    3. ...and my American Revolution patriots: Private William McSwain--10th NC Line Regiment, Continental Army (under Brevard) Mark Bird--Colonel in the Pennsylvania Reserves, soon was requested to make iron for the independence effort. He mostly made cannons and nail wire at his furnace/foundary in Berks Co. PA. The ironworks were at Hopewell Foundary near Birdsboro, now a National Historic Site managed by the NPS. Mark Bird is also documented to have sent 1000 barrels of flour to Washington at Valley Forge when the going was tough. Mark's brother-in-law (brother of Mark's spouse) signed the Declaration of Independence (George Ross). James E. Some of the songs on this CD are founding period, though others drift into the 19th Century. This music seems to be mostly originating with the Calvinist branch of the Protestant family. 1. Geoge Knox Rev War Pension File

    3. Hugh, I went back and looked at your earlier posts. I am quite sure this is the George Knox you are looking for and if it is, this is the most complete and detailed application I have come across and I've read many of them to date. Just wish I could be so lucky...lol If this is the right one, let me know and I will email you the images. Very detailed and interesting. I enjoyed reading it. Series: M805 Roll: 505 Image: 433 File: #S-2709 Page: 1 of 9 Geoge Knox m. Catherine ? (maiden name not stated) Oct 13, 1782. He died 22nd day of March 1824. She did not remarry. She filed for pension from NY state City and County of NY, Feb. 02, 1837 and states her age is 72. List of Children from actual family bible: Mary Ann Knox b. 12 July 1783 d. 13 April 1784 age 9 mo Elizabeth Ann Knox b. 26th March 1785 at 9 o'clock in the morning. Catherine F? or Tear Knox b. 28 April 1787 at 9 o'clock in the morning Georgianna Knox b. 17 May 1789 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon George Knox b. Jan 1 1792 at 2 o'clock in the morning Amelia Knox b. 13 July 1795 at 8 o'clock in the evening Matilda Knox b. 28 Nov 1797 at 9 o'clock in the morning Family surnames from the marriages of the girls are Beebe, Paulding, Hyslop, and Bruen. Othe dates of death, marriage, births are given in this two pages of the family bible (actual images). Further info lists: George Knox was listed as a private, then later a Seargant Major in the 4th PA Reg. Some Details of his service. Including mention of Stoney Pt. Catherine Knox, his wife, died 24th Jan 1845 in NY city, county and state. Lists location of residence on his children and their husbands names. George was inlisted by Lt. Col. William Butler on the 5th day of Oct 1777. He was appointed Sgt. Major of the same regiment. While on march with his regiment he was shot through the body by one Richard Roech?(spelling of last name difficult to read), with a musket charged with a cartridge and musket ball, the whole of which entered on the right side of his back bone and came out about 2" above his navel. Discharged Nov 1779. By means of his said wound he is incapable of continuing his livelyhood. He was granted a disablitly pension due to his injuries. A study of these documents will reveal much more info than I have included here. Thomas SUMTER, Capt. NIXON and Col. LUCY (might be LACEY). He served at Eutaw Springs, Charleston, Sullivan's Island and also fought at Camden, SC. One of the battles my grandfather was in was the Battle of Rocky Comfort against the Indians which may have taken place near Augusta, GA (info from his pension application). Does anyone have information on the Battle of Rocky Comfort? I didn't find anything doing an internet search. Is a battle against Indians during this time frame considered part of Revolutionary War service? South Carolina has many re-enactments and other things schedule in commemoration of the 225th anniversary of many battles fought here. I have a pdf downloaded from The State newspaper with information about the Siege of Charleston and re-enactments taking place throughout South Carolina. I'll be happy to e-mail it upon request. 3. Hugh -- >>> Morgan first organized what was known as Morgan's Rifle Corps >>> (1777-1778) <<< Morgan was at Cambridge Msss in the summer of 1775, just after Washington arrived. I have his commission dated 22 June 1775 after which he raised a company of 96 men in Virginia and marched to Boston arriving the last week in July. Morgan's company of riflemen went with Arnold on his "March to Quebec" up the Jennebec River in Maine and over the Height of the Land and down the R. Chaudier in the autumn of 1775. Morgan was captured at Quebec, paroled in the summer, but not "exchanged" until the fall of 1776. On 12 Nov 1776 he was Commissioned Colonel of the 11th Virginia Regiment. In the spring of 1777 he was serving in operations in NJ preceeding the British Philadelphia Campaign then in mid-summer, his "Corps of Rangers" was sent by Washington to reinforce Gates who was facing the advance of Burgoyne's army. I find no evidence that Morgan went to Ft Pitt. Bob Brooks
