    2. Kathy
    3. I am researching my grandparents line and I think I have found a relative that served in the American-Revolutiary War. Is there anyway I can check this out. His name was Capt. William Brinkley and he was commissioned to Captain April 16,1776 of the N.C. Troup of the Continental Line of the of the 3rd. Regiment. I would greatly appreciate it. I don't know how to list it on your rootsweb site. Thank you so much for your help. Kathy Bailey, Jacksonville, NC e-mail [email protected]

    3. Janet, We seem to share of a pod of folks in Berks Co. PA. which included my patriot families Beetem and Marquart who intermarried with the same families as your maternal ancestors. PA Archives, Series 3, Vol. XVIII lists payers of the Berks supply tax, and can be viewed online at "Iarchives". Myrna, these lists include lots of Lora's/Lorah's - many spellings - in several townships. 1. Daniel Morgan / Brake & tories
    2. David Armstrong
    3. Regarding all the posts on Daniel Morgan he got involved shooting at some of my people. In 1781 on the South Fork River in Hardy County, now West Virginia, my ancestor Jacob Brake staged a Loyalist uprising. They hoisted up the British flag, and the state sent Daniel Morgan in with militia to break it up. After some skirmishing all was shortly under control. Morgan's presence is evidence to me that this uprising was more than just the "misunderstanding over taxes" that Brake and Co. made it out to be in their petition for clemency. People were being hanged for lesser offenses and I never have beleived that Brake and company would have went to that risk over an American tax and if they did they would not have needed the British flag to do it. If there are any experts on Daniel Morgan out there who know about this lesser-known action in his career I would be grateful to hear! Best Regards David Armstrong Elkins, WV
