Debbie There are two Thomas Whitlocks in Eckenrode with residences listed. One from Brunswick and one from Halifax Co. A third entry doesn't gove a place of residence. This one is in the 7th VA Regiment. There is a record of a James Farmer in the VA Auditors accounts Vol 28 You may already have this info. Best Regards David Armstrong Elkins, WV >
David, Here's the best I can offer, and I offer it antecdotally. I had a relative in the 10th NC Line Regiment in the Continental Army. However, he didn't join until the last 3 years of the war. Scholors say that the 10th was dissolved by then. Near as I can *guess, *some units kept their own names, even though they were officially mixed into other Regiments. James David Armstrong wrote: >Query: Does anyone have evidence of a Continental Army unit designated the 14th Virginia in 1781? Sanchez-Saavedra says that the 14th was renumbered in 1778 and there was no 14th after that. I have posed this question to the right people at the Virginia State Archives and they don't know either. Thank you Kate! Yes, that Cornelius 1666 Essex Co VA-1746, Essex Co VA,is thought to be the gg-grandfather of the later Cornelius 1750-1811 Rev War Vet. All complicated by the fact that Wm SALE, the immigrant 1638..had two sons whose lines continued the names of Cornelius and William all the way. AND we aren't sure if our early Wm SALE is the same man or even related to the Wm SAYLE who is written about as Gov of the Carolinas and settled some of his family in the Isle of Man. It is starting to come together however. Thanks for this info! Hello, I was reading the Valentine Papers, Vol 1 - 4, at Heritage Quest which listed a Cornelius Sale as an appraiser of a sale, date Jan 15 1733. This might make him too old to serve in the American Revolution. For what it's worth. Kate Ross __________________________________ Discover Yahoo!
