Thanks for information and suggestions everyone. I have a copy of Elizabeth Delano Whiteman, Zebedee Delano DAR approved documentation 1979, that is no longer exceptable. I found Elizabeth Delano Whiteman Paper's, at the Fogler Library, University of Maine, I have ordered most of the papers, I thought I would find something in her papers that would help. But not so far? Another lady was DAR approved in 1929, I don't have a copy of that documentation. Actually, the online DAR patriot index has this additional information about Zebedee Delano: Future Applicants Must Prove Correct Service: The proof of service used to establish this person as a patriot is no longer valid. Subsequent evaluation of the proof of service may have determined that the proof is not acceptable under today's standards (examples: tombstone, obituary, undocumented genealogy or county history, family tradition); the service belongs to another person of the same name; the residence of this person during the Revolution is inconsistent with the service, or multiple people have claimed the same service. Future applicants must provide proof of service (and possibly residence) that meets current standards. You can still send to the DAR for a record copy, but you will have to prove his service if you apply for membership. The registrar or lineage research chairman of a chapter near you should be able to help you with this. And if necessary, they can kick it up to the state level. Thanks, But not good enough. Zebedee Delano documentation has been denied until I or someone can find a dated document with his name on it between April 18 1776 - Nov. 1783. That's why I'm trying to find Captain Ichabod How's Roster of enlisted men. Hopefully that will help. Hi List Members I hope someone here can help me Appreciate any help or suggestion anyone can offer that might lead me to finding the information I need. I'm searching for the Roster of men who served under Captain ICHABOD HOW of Winthrop, Massachusetts/Maine. "Ichabod How was chosen to represent the town in a Provincial Congress, to be holden at Cambridge, the first day of Feb., 1775 they then proceeded to choose "military officers to discipline the inhabitants, agreeably to the directions of Provincial Congress" "A brief History of Winthrop" David Thurston pg. 71 My fifth Great-Grandfather ZEBEDEE DELANO was selected 8th on the 1st day of February 1775 in Winthrop Maine to serve as 4th Sargent. I very much want Zebedee Delano recognized by the DAR. I have the above Information from" A Brief History of Winthrop" David Thurston pg. 69-75, but this doesn't fall in the excepectable time frame 18 April 1776- November 1783. It doesn't make since to me that Zebedee Delano would volunteer to serve his County the 1st day of Feb 1775 and would not still be ready to serve his Country on or after the 18th April 1776. He live until 1804, I would guess he was in good health. Zebedee Delano is also listed DAR Patriot Index Volume I A-F pg. 738 and Founders And Patriots Of America Index pg. 66. listed With wife Sarah Worthy (should be Northy) Would anyone have a good explanation why Zebedee Delano service was denied? Please accept our sincere apologies. We were not aware that Care2 has inserted those two optional response questions. We don't know why Care2 (the ISP hosting the petition) had inserted those two optional questions about political party affiliation and whether the respondent has children. Those questions and the answers to them are of no interest to the Friends of Historic Glasgow and are not necessary. We certainly did not ask to have those two optional questions included as part of FoHG's petition. We appreciate it that you have made us aware of these two superfluous, unnecessary questions and we've immediately taken the matter to Care2 to get those two unnecessary optional questions removed immediately from our petition. Just skip them since they are optional questions, and do not provide any response to them. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/ Signature Requirements for THREATENED BY DEVELOPMENT: Save the Natural & Cultural Resources of Historic Glasgow, DE Home > My PetitionSite > THREATENED BY DEVELOPMENT: Save the Natur... > Set Signature Requirements Signature Requirements What information should petition signers provide? Interesting news article and 300 ft mural. Story and photos. http://www.wvgazette.com/section//2006093023
both books are selling for 30.00 (reprints) so I will buy them
I would definitely say they're worth buying, however, also agree with TreeMother about checking library holdings for them. They're probably not allowed out of any library that has them - no inter-library loan type thing, but if your research is limited to just a couple men -- look-ups might be more fitting?? Unless, you're gonna share --- :)))) Keep well -- Terri
As the authors dug into records we do not have at hand and compiled these men. I think that they are worth having in a personal library if your local library does not already have them. I applaud those who dig through records and identify patriots and give the source of the records found. Tree Mother "She is insane, of course. The family history has become a mania for her."
