Irene Amburgey (Martha Carson) was the daughter of Robert Humphrey Amburgey and Gertrude Quillen. She had two sisters that were also singers, Bertha (Minnie O'Neil) and Opal Jean (Jean Chapel). She also had a brother that sang, Lloyd Franklin (Don Chapel). Robert Humphrey was a brother to my Grandfather, William Riley Amburgey, m. Sabrina Franklin. They were sons of Alfred Amburgey and Elizabeth "Betts" Amburgey, a second cousin marriage. Alfred was the s/o William W "Sal Bill" Amburgey and Levina Sparkman while Elizabeth "Betts" was the d/o Wiley J Amburgey and Diannah Adams.
