We members of the Colonel Ben Caudill Camp of Sons of Confederate Veterans are trying to everything possible to locate and mark the graves of all members of the 5thj Kentucky Infantry and 13th Kentucky Cavalry - including the Amburgeys. We have set a marker for Lt. Wilburn Amburgey in Menifee County. We will set a marker for Private Elijah Amburgey (1838-1906) (5th Kentucky Infantry) this Thursday (July 8th) near Morehead in Rowan County. We will set a stone for Private Anderson Amburgey (1842-1923) (5th & 13th) in Warsaw, Missouri (Benton County) on July 16th. We have ordered and are awaiting for new markers to arrive for: Private Alfred Amburgey (1813-1868) - Greasy Burgey Cemetery, Carrs Fork (Knott County) Private Humphrey Amburgey (1833-1865) - Carrs Fork Mem. Cemetery, Littcarr, Ky. (Knott County) Private John J. Amburgey (1843-1915) - Compton-Dingus Cemetery, West Dante, Va. (Russell Co.) Private Thomas H. Amburgey (1844-1927) - Lancer Cemetery, Lancer, Ky. (Floyd County) Private Thomas Francis Amburgey (1825-1897) - Francis Amburgey Cem., Burgeys Creek (Knott Co.) Corporal William W. Amburgey (1826-1898) - Greasy Burgey Cemetery, Carrs Fork (Knott County) I thought you would be glad to hear that you G-G-G grandfather's military stone is on the way. I visited his gravesite about two months ago. We still have not determined the burial sites of: Private Ambrose Amburgey (1841-1921) (5th Ky. Infantry) Lieutenant Jesse Amburgey (1822 - after 1890) (5th Ky. Infantry) Private John Walker Amburgey (1837-1893) (5th Ky. Inf. & 13th Ky. Cav.) If you have any information, please let me know. We have found the grave of Private William G. Amburgey (1835-1921) - Huff Cemetery, near Norton, Virginia (Wise County) but we are waiting to order the stone after we have more exact dates from his pension and death certificate. Thanks again for your interest. We have a few 13th Ky. Cavalry men we believed were buried in Greenup County - so maybe you could help out with some of those in the future. Stay in touch. Sincerely, Faron Sparkman --------------38993EF07C117D4B887EF8DB--
