    3. Hi Everyone, I just found this list on roots web. I hope it is still active. I went to the Amburgey family reunion in Hindman KY in July and had a really great time. I purchased the AMBURGEY ANCESTRY IN AMERICA book by Dorothy Amburgey Griffith and also got to meet her at the reunion. I have found out so much about my family history from this book and have also enjoyed helping others get in touch with their family roots. My g-g-g-great grandparents were John and Elizabeth Hammons Amburgey. My g-g-great grandfather was Ambrose Amburgey, g-great grandfather Wiley J. Amburgey, great grandfather William Riley Amburgey, grandfather Ambrose Wiley Amburgey, father James Denzil Amburgey. I would love hearing from all relatives and would be glad to help anyone I can in their search. I would really like to find out more about my great-aunt Adelia Amburgey Landrum. I have dates and info on her husband but would like to know if anyone has personal information about her. She died at 27 and no one I have talked to seems to know much about her. I would also like to have some pictures of her if anyone has any. Have a great day, Adelia Jane "Janie" Amburgey Burns

    3. Hello Everyone, If after reading the following message from the Rootsweb staff you have any questions, drop me a line. Larry Listowner FORWARDED MESSAGE - Orig: 23-Jun-98 12:02 Subject: Blocking Attachments and HTML From: listowners-announce@rootsweb.com ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi, folks -- Well, it took almost two months longer than expected, but we're right now installing a SmartList hack that blocks file attachments (including VCARDS), HTML messages and enriched text postings. Sorry about the delay: things have been crazy around here. This note is to let you know how it works. When a poster sends something to a mailing list written in HTML, or with a non-plain-text attached file, the list server will send the poster's message back to them, with a note at the bottom explaining the plain-text requirement at RootsWeb. A COPY OF THIS REJECTION MESSAGE WILL BE SENT TO YOU AS WELL! That's because the poster may write back to you to complain or to ask for help, and it can be pretty confusing if they write a reply to a message that you never saw. So when you suddenly start getting messages from YOURLIST-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com, quoting some ungodly HTML mess that you never saw before, don't be alarmed. :-) It just means the list server is rejecting a MIME message that was sent to your list, and that you may get a response from the poster. This change is not currently something the listowner can turn on and off. Attachments will be blocked from every list alike. This might not be to the taste of some listowners, so we'll consider closely whether it would be safe to make it an optional setting. Thanks to Marc Nozell for finding the SmartList patch that was used as the basis for this fix! Regards, Tim Pierce RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative volunteer sysadmin and general hacker

Val Adkins was a dedicated genealogist who made many terrific contributions to our hobby online, as well as offline. Val was the webmaster for the Grannies World site and the Conneaut Valley Area Historical Society web site, which included many transcriptions done by Val herself. She also ran several mailing lists including one for Crawford County, Pennsylania and one for New York City. We will all miss Val, her love of genealogy and her cherished friendship. Friends and family of Val Adkins invite you to visit a memorial web page for Val, read about her life and share some fond memories: http://www.rootsweb.com/~memorial/vadkins/vadkins.htm On behalf of Val, her family and friends, I'd like to thank you for paying your respects. Sincerely, Cyndi Howells Someone who benefited often from Val's wit and wisdom

    3. Hi! I haven't gotten quite so far in my research. I am having trouble finding the parents and brothers/sisters of Ernest or Earnest AMBURGEY, of Wolfe County, KY, who married Dora HATTON in 1919; their children include Ernest Jr., Sylvester, Ira, Hank, and Juanita. I do not have a birth date, as the marriage record was on the only roll of microfiche the library didn't have!, and I no longer have easy access to that library. There aren't many Amburgeys listed in the area (Breathitt and Wolfe counties, Ky.) at the time, and from what I understand, most of the Amburgeys came from Perry and Letcher County, Ky. I would like to be able to find a link between Ernest (my g.grandfather) and those earlier names! Does anyone have this name anywhere on their lists? Also, where could I find a copy of the AMBURGEY ANCESTRY IN AMERICA? Thank you for any help you can give! Angel Turnberg Paris, KY.

    3. Greetings Everyone, It's been a long time since my last post to you. (Far to long) We need to get the list traffic going, or there just isn't much since in keeping this list around. So here is what I'd like you all to do. 1) Take a moment and send a query to the list (not to me). Let everyone know the lines you are searching for. I'l you to send your AMBURGEY line as far back as you have it. 2) Search your files and databases for any land, census or other records that can be shared with everyone. These two things should at least keep us in AMBURGEY mail for a day or to. Please don't ignore this request. Larry Gaian Rocklin, CA
