    1. Re: [ALWINE] Jerome Allwein's genealogy
    2. Dear Ray and Cousins, I do still have the sheets that Nancy mentions below. As far as I know, all of us who have a copy of the Jerome Allwein info have Part I on the Allweins, with Part II being the Arnold lines and missing. As far as I have been able to ascertain, Jerome Allwein's work is no longer copyrighted, so it is my goal to get it on our ALWINE web site sometime this year. If anyone is aware of any possible copyright renewal that one of his descendants may have requested, please let me know before I embark on this time-consuming process. It is also my understanding that Ted Allwein is comfortable with us putting the additional manuscript data sheets online as well, so I hope to do all of them at the same time. This will probably have to be a summer project for me, as I volunteer quite a bit at my kids' school during the school year. (Figure I might as well spend time with them now, while they're 4 and 6. In a few short years, they won't want me within a mile of their school!) There are some sheets in the Ted Allwein data that pertain to Philip and Sarah Miller Alwein descendants, but it's nothing that you and I don't already have in our database, Ray. As a matter of fact, the sheets look like a descendant outline printout, and I believe they are from Marlin Alwine's database, due to the similarities with other printouts I have from Marlin. The Jerome Allwein book only has information on two of Hans Jacob and Katrina's children, Conrad and Elizabeth. When it was written, Jerome Allwein knew only that Conrad and Elizabeth were siblings, and had no information on their parents or other siblings. The will documents that Nancy sent me regarding John Allwein will were helpful in documenting several things regarding John's children -- confirmation of some spouses' names, etc. I also have a copy of John Allwein's actual will from the Berks County Register of Wills Office, as well as some estate documents, including a personal effects inventory for Hans Jacob Allwein. I've been trying to come up with a way to make these readily available for everyone; perhaps a scanned image of the documents themselves onto the ALWINE web pages. I wish I could get all of these projects completed sooner rather than later, but I am just "over-volunteered" in more areas than I care to admit. Once I got the ALWINE web site up and running, I did a major overhaul of the Conemaugh Township web site, which I maintain for the Somerset County PAGenWeb project. That one is a huge site, which was long overdue for updating. I am currently embroiled in chairing a fundraising auction to be held May 6th, and hope to see the light at the end of the tunnel in the next several weeks. I will make a real effort to scan in the estate documents I have as soon as I can, and get them on the ALWINE pages. Allwein Genealogy of Allwein's, minus the Arnold's. The book I wished I would have copied is a red book at the Lebanon Historical Society, Allwein/Arnold's published by Jerome Allwein. The copies I have are typed sheets from the original sheets which were given to me by Ted Allwein, from Myerstown, PA. Ted is still living, I did write to him lately, but I haven't herard from him. Another section is of Phillip Alwine, son of John Alwine and Eve Christian. Someone has it on computer sheets, which were given to Ted. (25 sheets) I would think someone from your side of the family did the work. The other section is on Ted's family. So everything would be just over 300 sheets. Before Christmas I copied all this for Christine. It cost about $23.00 to print at Staples. I just asked Thomas Stobie if he wanted a copy. I told him I don't live real close to Staples, but I would mail him those sheets, plus a good section on my family from Hiram Allwein on down. . This past winter I mailed a wills to Christine that were John Alwine's and other old sheets that were from her family in Berks County. Talk to Christine.
