Lebanon Daily News Friday Evening November 29, 1940 CHARLES H. ALLWEIN DIES OF HEART ATTACK Seized with a heart attack, Charles H. Allwein, of 114 Chestnut Street, died suddenly at 1:00 o'clock, Thursday afternoon. He was aged 57 years. Mr. Allwein was a machinist employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company for forty years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, of St. Mary's Beneficial Society, and of the Holy Name Society of that church. The decedent was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Volunteer Firemen's Aid. Surviving are two sons, The Rev. Cyril Allwein, of McSherrystown, and Richard Allwein, of Lebanon: one brother, Paul A. Allwein, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. harry Swope of Hanover, two grandchildren also survive. Lebanon Daily News Monday Evening December 2, 1940 A large number of catholic priest from communities throughout the state this morning attended the funeral of Charles H. Allwein of 1114 Chestnut Street. Prominent catholic layman and father of the Rev. Cyril Allwein of McSherrystown. The number of dignitaries present was a tribute to Mr. Allwein's unfalling devotion to the church. Following brief services held at 9:30 o'clock this morning in Thompson's Funeral Home, a solemn high mass was celebrated by his son in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Assisting the a Rev. Allwein were the Rev. Robert J. Gray, of Pittsburgh, Deacon: The Rev. Joseph Doran, of Freeport, Subdeacon: and the Rev. Charles Murray, of Harrisburg, Master of ceremonies. Priest and attendants at the services were: Monsignor Huegel, Vicar general of the Harrisburg Diocese, The Very Rev. Patrick F. McGee, of McSherrystown, the Very Rev. John J. Lawley, of Lebanon, The Rev. Francis Weiner C. P. P. S. McSherrystown, Rev. Kane, Rev. Breckel, Rev. Stickland, Rev. Tighe, Rev. Topper, Rev. Dinkel, Rev. Schmidt, Rev. Huber, Rev. Keller, Rev. Kirchner, Rev. Smarch, Rev. Liebich. The Rev. Mattern, Rev. Joseph Brown, Rev. Mulcahy, Rev. Mongellusi, Rev. Schott, Rev. McGuire, Rev. Enright, Rev. Hager, Rev. Burke, Rev. Reidenbach, Rev. Findland, Rev. Hartnett, Rev. Neis, Rev. Houck, Rev. Corchran, Rev. Kappel, Rev. Whalen, and the Rev. McSweeney. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray A.
