Wife Sarah Zweier Born Abt. 1843 Buried in Virginia. One of the sons name is Philip A. 1871-1948 Buried at Holy Cross Cemetery married Amelia S. Arnold 1874-1955 Buried in Holy Cross. Daughter Margie C. Arnold born 1895 Evening Report Monday September 21, 1914 FRANK ARNOLD DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND BEST KNOWN CITIZENS IN CITY AND COUNTY MEMBER OF ST. MARY'S After an illness extending over several years, Frank Arnold, aged 76 years, one of the oldest and best known residents of this county died Sunday night at the home of his son, Pius Arnold, of 206 North Eighth street, proprietor of the Hotel Grand. During his long illness the aged man showed wonderful fortitude and patience. This patient endurance was the admiration of all who knew him. Mr. Arnold was born in North Lebanon Township, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Arnold, early settlers in this part of the state. About 30 years ago Mr. Arnold left his farm in North Lebanon township to go to Virginia where until three years ago he farmed in Chesterfield and Roanoke counties. He came back here to make his home with Mr. and Mrs. Pius Arnold. His wife died while they were residing in Virginia twenty three years ago. A staunch and lifelong Democrat and a fervent member of St. Mary's church in this city, was Mr. Arnold. Surviving him besides twelve children are thirty four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The surviving sons and daughters are: George Arnold, Lycoming county; Pius P., Phillip, James, Frank, Leo, Andrew, of this city; Aloysius and Adam, of Roanoke, Va.; Mrs. Joseph Albert, West Lebanon; Miss Sallie Arnold, Lebanon, and Mrs. N. T. Paine, of Scottsville, Va. The funeral arrangements are in charge of Undertaker Thompson and the funeral will take place Thursday morning at 9 o'clock with a requiem high mass in St. Mary's Catholic church. Evening Report Thursday September 24, 1914 FAMILY REUNITED AT FUNERAL TODAY OF FRANK ARNOLD The funeral of the late Frank Arnold held this morning from the home of his son, Pius P. Arnold, of North Eighth street and marked by a requiem high mass in St. Mary's Catholic church was marked by the reunion of his 12 children who had not been together in more than 30 years. The mass was celebrated by Rev. A. Christ, pastor, who in preaching the funeral eulogy spoke of Mr. Arnold as one of his oldest and most faithful parishioners. The pallbearers, the six youngest sons of Mr. Arnold were: James, Frank, Leo, Andrew, Aloysius, and Adam. Burial was made in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. Lebanon Daily News Tuesday September 22, 1914 FRANK ARNOLD EXPIRED SUNDAY AGED 76 YEARS Frank Arnold, a retired farmer, well known to the older generation of the city and esteemed for many fine qualities, died on Sunday evening at the Grand Hotel. No. 206 North Eighth street, of which his son, Pius Arnold is the proprietor. He had been an invalid for several years, and his death was therefore a relief from suffering, but he bore it all with a patience and fortitude that not only astonished relatives and friends alike, but excited their admiration was well. WIDELY KNOWN FARMER To the younger generation Mr. Arnold was but slightly known. He was born in North Lebanon township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Arnold, and like his forefathers he followed the avocation of farming. It was about thirty years ago that he decided to try his luck in agricultural pursuits in Virginia, and he resided there ever since, living in Roanoke and Chesterfield counties. Mrs. Arnold died seven years after they reached their southern home. About three years ago, Mr. Arnold gave up active business pursuits because of declining health and came here to make his home with his son. Mr. Arnold was 76 years of age. STAUNCH DEMOCRAT He was a staunch Democrat and his principles were by no means weakened by his residence south of the Mason and Dixon line. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church here, and was held in high regard in the congregation as well as in other circles where he was known. Besides twelve children who survive him, there are thirty-four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at 9 o'clock from the Hotel Grand, the home of Pius Arnold, a son with services in charge of Rev. Father Adam Christ in St. Mary's Catholic Church.
