The Daily News Thursday August 13, 1992 EARLY MORNING CRASH KILLS BICYCLE RIDER The man riding a bicycle shortly before sunrise today along the Millardsville Road was killed when he was struck by a car passing another car in the oncoming lane. Lebanon county Coroner Dr. Robert Kline said the bicyclist died instantly of multiple injuries. Kline said police believe they know the identity of the bicycle rider from identification found some distance from the body. He was in his early 30s, Kline said, but his name will not be released until next of kin have been notified. The accident, which occurred about half a mile north of Richland, was reported to the county dispatcher at 5:43 a.m. The bicyclist "was going south and the care was going north". Kline explained. "The car going north passed another car and hit the bicycle and rider." Kline said the accident occurred in a no-passing zone. "There was a double yellow line," the coroner said. "He passed a car. Those people witnessed this thing. He passed them coming down a little hill. The double line certainly was there. It wasn't faded. It was well marked. The driver of the car had already been taken by Myerstown ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital when Kline arrived, he said, but it was his understanding that the car rolled over after striking the bicycle, coming to rest in a field just off the road near the accident. The name of the car's driver was unavailable before press time this morning. The victim was the 12th person to die as a result of accidents on Lebanon County roads this year, according to Daily News Records. (Sorry I forget to paste from other e-mail. Getting tired I guess.)
