    2. John Henry Allwein was the son of Paul Aloysius Allwein and Anna L. Shay. Lebanon Daily News Monday June 2, 1997 JOHN HENRY ALLWEIN John Henry Allwein, 72, of Edward Ave., Watertown, Conn., died Tuesday, May 27, 1997, in Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Lou Shay Allwein. Born in Lebanon on Oct., 1, 1924, he was a son of the late Paul and Annie Shay Allwein. He was a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School and graduate in 1950 from Lebanon valley College with a degree in chemistry. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a chemist, employed by Handy and Harmon, American Chemical and Refining Co. and a member of St. John The Evangelist Church, where he was a eucharistic minister and member of the St. John's School Board. He was a member of the American Society for Testing materials. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons John H. Allwein of Westford, Mass., and James J. Allwein of Newton; daughters Mary Beth Martin of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and Jane Amenta of Wallingford; brothers Paul J. Allwein of Buffalo, NY, Herman Allwein, of Denver, Colo., James Allwein, of Lebanon, Joseph Allwein of Arlington, VA, Robert Allwein of Allentown, and Pierce C. Allwein of Lebanon; sisters Sister Mary Esdras SSJ of Philadelphia, Sister Ann Louise of the Order of the Precious Blood of Columbia, Mary Sattazahn of Lebanon and Clare Barbini of Norfolk, VA; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. DEATH NOTICES ALLWEIN--In Watertown, CT formerly of Lebanon, John H. husband of Mary Lou (nee) Shay Allwein of 62 Edward Ave., Watertown, CT, Aged 72 years. Memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday morning 8:15 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Lebanon. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited.
