    2. Lebanon Daily News Monday Evening March 21, 1910 DREAD DISEASE IS PREVAILING In Virulence Resembles Scarlet Fever and Doctors are in Quandary VICTIMS OF DISEASE Daughters of Andrew Allwein Local physicians and parents of young children are much perturbed in mind because of the appearance here of a dread disease resembling scarlet fever. The malady has been prevalent for some time at Harrisburg and Reading and elsewhere in the state and according to the statement of specialists, doctors themselves are in a quandary. The disease manifests itself very suddenly, and invariably results in death from fever before medical aid can accomplish anything. TWO CHILDREN DIE The diseases made its most pronounced appearance on Saturday night at the home of Andrew Allwein of 530 North Tenth street. The illness came upon the children of the household so suddenly that the attending physician had no time to even diagnose the case. Margaret, a five year old daughter succumbed to the disease about 5 o'clock on Saturday evening, and Catherine another daughter aged 3 years, died on Sunday morning about 4 o'clock. BURIED IN ONE GRAVE The parents are well known and have the sympathy of many friends, Anna and Sarah, elder daughters survive. Owing to the contagious nature of the disease which caused death, the bodies were buried without public services this afternoon. Interment was made at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery. There were two caskets, but both were placed in one grave. Only the immediate members of the family were present at the burial. Funeral Director James F. McGovern had charge.
