Allwein, 60, husband of Marie Snyder Allwein, 807 Guilford St. died early this morning in the Good Samaritan Hospital after an illness of ten weeks. He was employed as an agent for the Reading Railroad in Annville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Mt. Zion Fire Company, the Camp Strauss Fire Company and the Telegraphers Union. A native of Toronto, Ohio, he was a son of the late John W. and Ethel Day Allwein. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, John R., Lebanon Rd 2; two daughters, Louise, wife of Gary Durham, Lebanon; and Janice at home; three grandsons; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Reed, Lebanon; Mrs. Pauline Schurr, Parkersford, PA, and Mrs. Ethel Hill, Pottstown Taken from the Labanon Daily News, Lebanon PA, Wednesday March 12, 1969 Page 36 Funeral Notices ALLWEIN -- In Lebanon on March 11, 1969, John D., husband of Marie Snyder Allwein, aged 60 years. Funeral on Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the Thompson Funeral Home, 126 S. 9th St. Requiem High Mass 10:00 o'clock St. Mary's Catholic Church . Internent at Holy Cross Cemetery. (Thompson) Steve Allwine has given me this information, it was a big help. John D. Allwein's name appeared in the Lebanon City Directories as John, Jr. thinking he was John W. Allwein. Confused!!! Now I have a connection!!!! Yea!!!!! Marie Snyder - Allwein's sister was Margaret M. Snyder - Keim - Allwein married Bernard William Allwein. Their parents were William J. Snyder and Anna Elizabeth Seyfert. This was a good day to find a piece of a puzzle. Nancy
