Trompeter Gertrude A. Trompeter, 78, of 1536 Sand Hill Road, Lebanon, died of natural causes Friday, June 15, 2001, in Lebanon's Good Samaritan Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph F. Trompeter. Born Oct. 4, 1922, in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late Howard H. Sr. and Mabel Allwein Arnold. She was a retired kitchen employee of Cornwall Manor, had worked in the school cafeteria for eight years, was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, and was a member of St. Mary's Church and Parish Council for Catholic Women. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters Barbara A., wife of Allen R. Matters Jr., and Joan E. Ristenbatt, both of Lebanon; a stepmother, Viola Zimmerman Arnold of Annville; sisters Sara Arnold of Myerstown, Kathryn Parrisi of Long Shore, N.J., Frances Emas of Philadelphia, Sr. Agnes Arnold of Lebanon, Rose Felty of Frederick, Md., and Geraldine Peiffer of Schwenksville; brothers Howard H. Arnold Jr. and Joseph Arnold, both of Lebanon, and Robert Arnold of Fredericksburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Margaret Allwein, Mary Arnold and Regina Combs, and brothers William, Raymond and Samuel Arnold. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Thompson Funeral Home, 126 S. Ninth St., Lebanon, preceded by a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, 2 N. Eighth St., Lebanon. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
