Heverling Jr., 81, of 1105 Oak St., Lebanon, died of natural causes Friday, May 18, 2001, in Lebanon's Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Anne S. Shultz Heverling and the late Grayce Krum Heverling. Born in Lebanon on Oct. 2, 1919, he was the son of the late George H. "Chick" Heverling Sr. and Bertha Arnold Heverling. He was a retired administrative assistant for Bethlehem Steel Corp.'s Cornwall Mines with more then 30 years of service. He had also been the bookkeeper for the former Heverling Decorations, Lebanon. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School Class of 1937 and Lebanon Business College. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lebanon; Mt. Olivet Lodge 704 F&AM, Lebanon; York Rite Bodies of Lebanon; Harrisburg Consistory; Rajah Temple Shrine, Reading; Quittahilla Forest 25 Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Quittie Woods; Lebanon County Shrine Club; Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Central Chapter, Lebanon; TPA Post E; and Quentin Riding Club, and he was a life member of the Society of the 213th CAAA. He was a former member of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club and had served on the board of the Lebanon Senior Center and the board of the regional committee of the Area Agency on Aging. He served 12 years on Lebanon City Council and was mayor of Lebanon from 1976 to 1980. Surviving in addition to his wife are children George H. III, husband of Gina Heverling of Walden, Colo., Lynn H., wife of Jeff Fackler, and Sue, wife of Thomas Hermansky, both of Cleona, and Margaret, wife of Timothy Taylor of McConnellsburg; six grandchildren; a sister, Doris Miller of Lebanon; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Robert Heverling, Donald Heverling, Frederick Heverling and Richard Heverling and a sister, Mary Jane Wilder. Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 Oak St., Lebanon. Family and friends will be received Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in Rohland Funeral Home, Fifth and Cumberland streets, Lebanon. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Masonic services at Mt. Olivet Lodge 704 F&AM Tuesday at 7 p.m.
