    1. [ALWINE] Genealogy Web Surfing
    2. Thomas A. Stobie, SFO
    3. Hi everybody, if you are like me and spend hours surfing the web in search of genealogy data, you can earn small amounts of money while doing so, if you let alladvantage.com monitor the sites you visit. I can be turned on and off at will. I always turn it off before doing any secure transactions. I do not know if this is nessecary but I do so anyway. They will pay you up to $9 a month for letting them do this. I use the money I recieve to pay for some of my genealogy expenses. I am letting you know about it to help cover some of your genealogy expenses, books, copies, etc. So far I have earned about $40 and have had no problem associated with it or any junk e-mail related to it. I believe it is safe. When it is running, I have a bar taking up about a inch at the top of the screen. It does have advertising which I ignore. It also has some features associated with the bar, such as links to other sites and a search engine, but I have never tried them. Their website is at AllAdvantage.com and if you sign you refer to my ID IYT-361 and I will get a little more to cover genealogy expenses. Enjoy all, Thomas A. Stobie, SFO Everything for the Glory of God

    3. Nancy, I have one candidate for Paul E. Arnold, but not proof that he is the father. Paul E. Arnold, son of John P. Arnold (son of Peter Arnold [son of Hermanus Arnold & Catharine Allwein] & Margaret Rebecca Arentz) and Mary A. (last name unknown) who was born abt 1878 and lived between 1910 and 1920 in Lebanon, PA and selling clothes according to the censuses. I know of no wife for him. 3. Hi Nancy, Day-date calculations are fairly straightforward. I do not have a table here in front of me, but I'm sure you can find one on the web or at just about any library. The calendar we use has a 28-year repeat cycle (i.e. this year's calendar is the same as the one 28 years ago etc.), so there aren't that many possibilties. I read an really interesting book on this topic over the Christmas holidays by Stephen Jay Gould, called Questioning the Millennium: A Rationalist's Guide to a Precisely Arbitrary Countdown. It doesn't have the tables in question, but I'm sure if you look up an entry on the Gregorian calendar you can find what day of the week Oct. 14, 1992 happened to fall on. Or any date for that matter. Good luck. 2. Hi Cousins, Have you noticed that the Harrisburg Patriot News paper did not give a DAY, but gave a date of publication example: Publication Date October 14, 1992 Now my problem is in the news article it states that a person died example on SUNDAY in Caplan Pavilion of Good Samaritan Hospital. If I had the Publication day with the date I could have a date for that sunday. Is there some way I can obtain a calendar of years and months like the old phone books use to print years ago?? What day was on October 14, 1992??? Thanks Nancy

    1. [ALWINE] John Felix Allwein
    2. Thomas, I was going through some old ALWINE sheets and something just didn't feel right about John Felix Allwein born in Berg Township in Dauphin County. I use to work for PennDOT in Lebanon and Dauphin counties and there isn't a Berg Township. I also wrote to my old boss, manager of Dauphin County, and he didn't hear of a Berg Township in District 8-0. That doesn't mean years ago it didn't exist. Maybe there was a name in front of berg, like Hamburg?? What do you think? Nancy

    3. Nancy, this is a tough one. I have no candidates for him, and two for his father. 1) Joseph Allwein (~1795-?) son of Conrad Allwein & Anna Catharine Weibel, married Mary M.
