I have just discovered the cemetery records of Hamburg Cemetery in Wilcox Co AL. I found a lot of my Harriss family buried there. Frances Harriss and his wife Rosanna Harris are buried there with other members of the family. Has anyone taken photos of these graves? Is the cemetery difficult to get to? We plan to be going thru that area around the first week of August. Pat Fite
Hi Pat: Just read your message and wanted to write and tell you that I think it is very hard to find Hamburg Cemetery without directions and/or a map. I have been there twice but couldn't begin to tell you how. Just don't go on a rainy day. The cemetery is on a knoll inside of a pasture. You will have to walk about a city block through the pasture which was very muddy on the day I was there. There were also animals that I didn't want to meet. I talked with the man who had the home next to the cemetery who said that it would be best to get permission from the owners to go look. By the way, I descend from the Stuart/Stewart's and Chandler families in Wilcox Co. Hope this helps.
