I am tracing the ancestry of my Powell ancestors, and recently discovered that my gggg-grandparents lived in Wilcox County, Alabama, before moving to Ouachita County, Arkansas sometime in the early 1840's. Any information that anybody has on these people would be greatly appreciated... The husband's name is Lewis M. Powell, who was apparently born in Georgia (according to census records of his son John M. Powell). The wife's name is Elizabeth Moore, and she was apparently born in Alabama. Elizabeth and Lewis were married in Wilcox County on December 26, 1839. That is all I know about them. Thanks very much for any help that anybody can provide! Shawn Powell
I do not recognize any of these names-my granddaddy was Quinnie Ellis Powell from Monroe County, Alabama and my grandmother was Mary Williams. They probably were married sometime just before 1900. My grandmother died around 1917 and is buried in Bermuda, Al. My grandfather died in 1939 and is buried in Excel, Al. I have been told that my set of Powell's came from the Carolinas.
