Now that the Federal census is on line, I have been able to find Thorntons in Wilcox, Monroe and Butler Counties. I also found NEEDHAM THORNTON in the SAmpson County, N. Carolina, 1800 Federal Census. My gggrandmother Elizabeth Thornton Sills, who was from Sampson County, named a son James NEEDHAM. Could this be a clue toward finding Elizabeth's parents? Does anyone have any info about a Needham Thornton who lived in Wilcox, Monroe or Dallas Counties in the 1800's. Needham is not in the 1820 N.Carolina census. Did he move to Alabama? In 1810, he is near Peter, Aaron, John, and Westbrook Lee, and Thomas, Sr., Nathaniel, Senior, Herod, John, and Felix Thornton. Any info will be appreciated. Hello, Freda and Ted It looks like you have made a breakthrough on your Elizabeth Thornton. I know you have been looking for her for a long time. Congratulations!!! I am on my way to Alaska on Wednesday, and Elizabeth is expected to deliver within the next 2 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed for her. I will keep you posted on what is happening and give you the details to add to your Ray family records. Again, congratulations on Elizabeth Thornton.
