Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DU.2ADE/292.1.1 Message Board Post: I do know that Rev. James Thompson lived in Camden. I believe that his daughter, Anne Catherine and her husband Lewis Langham might have too. Lewis' brother John Lowery Langham I believe lived in Pine Apple. Anne Catherine Langham died in 1853 leaving 6 small children between the ages of 9 to 1 year, one being my g grandfather. My great grandfather, Charles Langham had always said they were sent off to a boarding school. The next record I find for any of them is a marriage record in 1871 in Wilcox County, stating Charlie Langham married Ellen Bruce. Charles and Ellen Langham moved to LA in East.Carroll Parish next where she died in 1878. I have not found any other Langhams or Thompsons in the area that had children those ages living with them. Their father Lewis Langham died in 1861.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DU.2ADE/292.1 Message Board Post: Caren, it depends on what area of Wilcox county your ancestor lived. My ancestor was raised in Wilcox county as a child and lived in the Caledonia community which no longer exists. When my ancestors migrated to Louisiana in 1860, they told people they were from Pine Apple, most likely because that was where the post office was located. Pine Apple also had a railroad at that time and it is likely they had a boarding school. If not, I'd try the town of Camden, the county seat. They had a female institue which is still standing and most likely would have had a male institute as well. Good luck in your search! Jim

    2. Ted and Freda Noble
    3. Hi, can anyone help me identify the following people? Emma H. Eddins married James Clemon Sills in 1895 in Wilcox County. Who were Emma's parents? Is she related to James L. Eddins who married Ellen Elizabeth Solomon in 1855? The Monroe County Marriage records list Rosa M. Eddins marrying Samuel G. Wright on 6 March 1910. I would like to learn who Rosa M. Eddins is. Could she be James L.'s sister? Albert M. Ingram, son of Isaac and Polly Sills Ingram married Nancy L. Eddins in 1877, in Wilcox County. The Wright, Solomon, Sills and Eddins families lived in Wilcox and Monroe Counties, so I am posting to both Lists. These families were closely connected and I think perhaps the Eddins are all related. Thanks as always for any info. 1. [ALWILCOX-L] Marshall Surname DNA Project
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DU.2ADE/291 Message Board Post: The 1850 US Census indicated Marshall's living in this county. My family name descends from a James Marshall who in 1754, when being granted land in Kershaw Dist. SC, stated that he had come lately from Penn. Over the past 5 years with the help of lots of folks, I have collected data on some 750 families that descend from this James. But I cannot get past James, who was a Capt in the Rev. War. I now believe to get past this James brick wall new technology is required. And it appears the new technology just might be DNA testing. Many of you have the same type of brick wall. Or there may be someone with the Marshall surname you have always wondered with about kinship. I have recently started a Marshall Surname DNA Project. If your surname is Marshall or something very similar, and would consider participating in the project please contract me at my e-mail address listed below. To learn more about the tests please go to www.familytreedna.com. I now have enough Marshall's interested to qualify for the $99 each group rate. This is for the 12 marker test. With enough participation across the United States we might be able to identify all the various Marshall lines in the US. Once we have identified the many lines and which we are part of, we can better refine our standard genealogical research to locate our ancestors. Contact me if you have questions.
