I am forwarding this information, because many family members moved away to these areas. I hope that this may help get information on those distant family members. ------------------------------------------------------------------ * Searchable Death Indexes for the United States Death certificates are a valuable resource for genealogical and family history research. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DU.2ADE/157.1 Message Board Post: Walter, I wonder if your Nancy Beard could be the daughter of Daniel Beard of Wilcox Co., AL? Daniel was the brother to my GGG Grandmother, Anna Beard (of Monroe Co., AL). Daniel had a daughter, Terreca A. Beard, born 1856, who married a John Holloway, born 1847. I found John and Terreca in 1880 Wilcox Co., AL living with her mother, Lucretia Dekle Beard. I have not been able to locate the 1850 census for Wilcox Co., AL to find my Daniel Beard to see what children he had with him then. If you happen to have access to the 1850 Wilcox Census, perhaps you can find Daniel Beard and see if he has a daughter named Nancy. If you find anything, I would appreciate your letting me know. Thanks, Ruby of Texas

Surnames: McGee, Magee, Sheffield Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DU.2ADE/296 Message Board Post: Dear Listers, I have been trying to learn where an ancestor was born. According to the 1850 Wilcox County Fed. Census, he was 50 years old and born in GA. After going through GA census indices for 1790 & 1800, I had no better idea of where to look. Then, I noticed a map that shows that GA covered northern and central AL & MS, as well as its current area, until the early 1800's. This ancestor's children were born in AL, according to the same census, with the first-born claiming to be 27 in 1850. After assuming that the father was born in current-day GA, I am beginning to wonder if he was actually born in AL! By the time of the 1850 census, AL and GA were within the same boundaries as they are today. Have any of you come across something similar to this? Would someone born in 1798's "GA" say he was born in GA on the 1850 census even if the place he was born in in 1798 was within AL lines in 1850? How on earth do I figure out where to look for this family?!
There is an Alberta in Wilcox county, AL on HWY 5 where you turn to go to Gees Bend. There is also an area of east Tuscaloosa , AL known as Alberta City.
Alberta, in Wilcox County, is on the far north part of Wilcox County, on the border with Dallas County. Located on State Highway 5 where it intersects with County Highway 29, northwest of Camden, and northeast of Catherine. It is located on Chilatchee Creek, which forms the county border. You might look in the enumeration of Wilcox Co., which contains the towns of Catherine, or Gastonburg is even closer. Since Alberta is on the county line with Dallas County, she could have lived in Dallas, look in Safford, Donald, or Cental Mills area. > -----Original Message----- > From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com]On Behalf > Of grannyhogans@hotmail.com > Sent: Friday, April 11, 2003 10:33 AM > To: ALWILCOX-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ALWILCOX-L] annie whiten > > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: whiten > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DU.2ADE/295 > > Message Board Post: > > Does anyone know where Alberta, AL was counted in the > 1930 census.
