Since I have been unable to learn the names of my gggrandmother Elizabeth Thornton Sills's parents, I am again writing to ask if anyone has info about her parents. Elizabeth and Clemmie Sills were married in Sampson County, N. Carolina, on 15 November 1818. If that date is correct, they had at least one child before they were married, maybe two, since Lee was born in 1816, and Sally in 1817. Two daughters Mary Jane and Penelope were born in North Carolina after their parents were married. There is a gape of eight years between the birth of Mary Jane and Penelope, so there may have been more children. Sometime before 1830, the family moved to Lowndes County, Alabama, and eventually Wilcox County, Alabama. There Clemmie and Elizabeth had children named: Jesse L., John Henry, Handy (Hardy?), Martha E., James Needham, Nancy, and Clinton. Sally Sills married John Thornton. John's family is probably connected to Elizabeth's Thornton family, but the connection has not been found. Anyone with info about Thorntons who had a daughter Elizabeth born on 27 April 1795, would be greatly appreciated. Freda -- Researching my Southern Families: Roberson/Robertson/Robinson,Bonner, Blakely,Wright, Sills, Thornton, Canterbury, Godbold, Solomon, Pate, Grice, Herron, Regan, Sims, Boles, Jones.
Does anyone have any info about Sarah Ann Lee who married Lee Sills on 21 November 1839, in Wilcox County, Alabama. I have no birthdate for Sarah Ann, but see died before 1846, the year Lee married again. Sarah Ann had at least three children: Anna Elizabeth who married James Wilkinson Ray, in 1859, in Wilcox County. Angelia Amelia who married William A. Brown, and James P. "Tom" Sills who died during the War Between the States. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to share the data I have collected. Does anyone research the Blankenship family? I would like to learn the names of the parents of Martha Elizabeth Blankenship, born 19 January 1851, died 26 October 1889, married John Henry Sills on 21 June 1868 in Wilcox County. They had at least two children: John Lipscomb and James Clemon. John Lipscomb married Lula Lee Eddins. I have a number of Eddins names, but I do not know who Lula Lee Eddins's parents are. She had ten children. James Clemon Sills married Emma H.Eddins, daughter of James Riley and Samantha Wright Eddins. Were Emma and Lula Lee Eddins sisters? Emma H. Eddins Sills had a sister Nellie Eddins who married Albert M. Ingram, son of Mary Jane Sills Robertson Ingram. I will be grateful for any info about these people. Freda -- Researching my Southern Families: Roberson/Robertson/Robinson,Bonner, Blakely,Wright, Sills, Thornton, Canterbury, Godbold, Solomon, Pate, Grice, Herron, Regan, Sims, Boles, Jones.

Brenda, at the risk of starting a flood of inquiries , in your cataloging Pine Hill Cemetery, have you run across any Ricketts or Turbervilles? My gr grandparents and grandparents lived in Pine Hill all their lives, it seems. William and Mary Ann Evans Morgan Ricketts, my gr grandparents are buried in Enon Cemetery, as are 2 of their grown children. Leona Ricketts Rayborn Turberville and William Johnson Turberville, my grandparents , both died in the 1950s in Wilcox County, and I have not found their burial spot . Anybody know them, have them in their family, or remember seeing a headstone, I would appreciate a note, as I am hitting a brick wall finding them. Thanks in advance to ANY help!--------Later----------------------Jewell
