    1. [ALWILCOX-L] Please Help Rediscover African American Ancestry
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DU.2ADE/484 Message Board Post: Hi! My name is Toni Carrier. I am the founding director of the University of South Florida Africana Heritage Project. We are committed to rediscovering precious records documenting African American ancestry, and making that information available on a free, public access internet site. Our students travel far and wide to inventory archives and county records before these are lost to history. Our website, which will be hosted by Rootsweb (God Love ‘Em), is now under construction, and we are accepting submissions of deed and will records that list slaves by name. We hope to come become a valuable resource to folks who are searching for slave ancestry, and to encourage a groundswell among the genealogical community, to rediscover these precious documents. Our website will also contain research articles on various topics relating to slavery and emancipation, and we will offer lesson plans for using this information as a teaching tool. Each record that we recover is a precious stone added to the pile, and we cherish our contributors. Please let us hear from you at toniheadr@aol.com, and God Bless.

    3. Hi...does anyone research the Isaac Ingram family that lived in Wilcox county in the 1850s? Isaac married Mary jane Polly Sills, daughter of William Clement Sills and Elizabeth Thornton Sills. Their daughter Louemma C. Ingram married John W. Wright. In the 1880 census, Emma Ingram, age 20, is living with Thomas and Martha E. Sills Buffington, her uncle and aunt. I would like to identify this John W. Wright. Does anyone know his parents's names? Many thanks. 3. Dear Linda, good to hear from you again. The "Grice" name is one that I have yet to work on. I only have Anne Grice who married my ancestor Stephen Godbold, ca 1789, probably in Prince George Parish, Georgia. I do have a brother William for Anne. Eleander Godbold, daughter of Stephen and Anne is my ggggrandmother. Stephen and Anne have a daughter Ada Godbold who married John E. Simpkins. This is probably your Ada. Would you like for me to send you all that I have on the Godbold family. There is a wonderful web List for the Godbolds which I think you should subscribe to. You will probably get more info than you want!!! I would like very much to see your Simpkins info. I have a Virginia Evelyn Simpkins who married Lee Sills (my family) and I would like very much to find Virginia Evelyn's parents, etc. Please let me hear from you again.
