    3. HI, I have Felix Tate married to Frances Ann Jones, daughter of James Washington Jones and Fereby Williams. Felix was born 2 Feb 1850, died 23 December 1936. I have seven children for Felix and Frances Ann, one is Thomas Chapman Tate. I also have Pat Giddens (her mother is Lottie Elizabeth Sims Giddens) married to George Lee Tate. No info on George's parents. Josephine Tate, born in 1840, married Samuel Oliver Young Ray. Riley Tate Married Mary Elizabeth Unknown. Their son Thomas Godfrey Tate married Matilda Ann Ray, daughter of Hall Ray and Salina Wilkinson Ray. These people lived in Wilcox County. I also have a George W. Jones, son of Silas Jones and Charlotte Peele Jones, but no info on this George. Would like to have more info on them and connect them to your family. Hope there is a connection here. She married William Riley Mims in Wilcox Co Alabama on 10 Nov. 1860. I show her birth date in Nov. 1838. She moved to Texas about 1900 with her son in law Andrew Jackson Watson and her daughter Joseph Ann Mims Watson. She is buried in Salado with another daughter Oceola Mims. Do you have any information that might help me find out Matha's ancestry. I have been told that her father might be James, but I have not been able in the past to find any proof. BD Brem

    2. Hello - I have a book entitled "Place Names in Alabama" and according to this book Black Bluff is in Sumter County. The entry for Black Bluff also said to see "Whitfield". For Whitfield the entry says " Settlement with discontinued PO at 323155NO880525W in Sumter County. First known as Black Bluff, the translation of sakti 'bluff' and lusa 'black', the Indian name of the Tombigbee River bluff on which it is located. Renamed for the family of J.G. Whitfield, and early settler. PO est in 1885. Hope this helps.

    2. Does anyone research Monroe and Wilcox county AA Richard Williams families? I am looking for information on Richard Williams and his family. Any info will be helpful. Richard had several brothers that I know of Gardner (bd 1850), Josh (bd unknown) and Clay (bd 1855) Richard Williams married Dolly Bradley during the last quarter of the 1800s and they had five children: (1) Zack Williams, born 1893 (2) Sadie Williams BD Unknown (3) Mary Williams BD unknown (4)Pearl Williams BD unknown (5) Adeline Williams (the youngest) born 1912. Richard's wife Dolly died in 1914 when Adeline was 2 years old. Adeline was raised by Dolly's sister. -Sadie, Pearl and Mary remained and lived their lives in Monroe county. -Zack moved north towards Wilcox county and was listed in the 1920 census as living in 'Black's Bluff'(?) with his wife Mollie Bragg/Williams and their five children William, Richard, Robert, Sallie and Zack Jr. Zack eventually moved to Coy in Wilcox county.     3. Does anyone have info on a Grant family that lived in Old Texas, Alabama, in the mid-1800s? Sarah J. Wright, daughter of John W. and Eliza Ann Solomon Wright, married John Grant. Debbie Alice Grant married Freeman Washington Solomon in 1878, at the home of J. W. Grant. Is Debbie Alice related to John Grant? Does anyone have info on a J. W. Grant? Would appreciate any info on the Grants. Several married into my families. These families lived in all four counties, so I am posted to all four county lists! Thank you.
