    3. I am looking for name and location of a cemetery where Davidson Blackwell is buried. I have been there years ago but can not remember the name. I think it may be located between Carbon Hill and Jasper. Can any one help me? Ann Clark Reese atreese@ardmore.net

    3. The name of the Cemetery is Scott Cemetery located between Jasper and Carbon Hill, AL. I can't give you precise directions since the new highway has been built between these sites. Perhaps someone who lives there can provide this. I took a picture of their stones many years ago. DAVIDSON BLACKWELL was born October 8, 1809, Elbert Co., GA; died June 22, 1887, Walker Co., AL. His parents have not been proven; but his mother, NANCY, was living with his brother, JAMES MONROE BLACKWELL, on 1850 census in Walker Co., AL. Their father is still not proven with the problem being there were several widows named NANCY BLACKWELL in Georgia on earlier records in Georgia. All we know is that the father was born in NC. During the time that DAVIDSON and brother JAMES were born in Elbert Co., GA, that county had a series of Tax List where several BLACKWELL's were shown residing there at the time. His name suggests a maiden surname of DAVIDSON in his family tree since it is not a common first name. DAVIDSON married SOPHIA HENRY on May 29, 1832, Carroll Co., GA. She was born 1807; died March 29, 1880, Walker Co., AL. She was also born in Elbert Co., GA, said to be named in will of JAMES ALEXANDER HENRY and SOPHIA REAGAN, listed on 1840 census as ALEXANDER HENRY in earlier census in Elbert Co., AL. I have not seen this will to confirm this. It was probably correct since they named oldest son, ALEXANDER HENRY BLACKWELL. They were shown on 1840 census in Fayette Co., AL; but on 1840 Tax List in Walker Co., AL. Land records shown they were in Walker Co., AL. DAVIDSON BLACKWELL and JAMES MONROE BLACKWELL took the Loyalty Oath after the Civil War which provided both their birthdates and place of birth. DAVIDSON BLACKWELL left family bible records and also a will in Walker Co., AL. We have a common ancestor in DAVIDSON BLACKWELL. Ann S.
