    3. I hope this might help: SAMUEL W. MOORE was shown on the 1840 and 1850 Census in Walker Co., AL and died before the 1850 census. He was born about 1804 in TN. Wife, Prudence was born about 1815 in TN and died after 1880, Walker Co., AL. They were buried in interesting above grown lots in what was then Moore's Cemetery but was later named after an Italian Immigrant son-in Law, with last name of Delavchino (uncertain of spelling), the last of his descendents to be buried there. The graves of Samuel and Prudence was built up high off the ground with stones and in the shape of a rectangle. At onetime, somone pourced cemenent off the flat of the topof these above ground vaults; but the markings are no longer identified. Samuel Moore's lant Patent #10353 was dated 01 August 1839 for 40.21 acres om Tpwmship 13. Tamge 1- West. Section 36, part South Eastern quarter of the South East Quarter. This was southwest of what would later become Carbon Hill, Alabama, but was part of Holly Grove at that time. The cemetery was located on this land. Since he was also on the earlier 1830 census, it is unknown where he had been a squarter on this land or was living somewhere else in the county. This was also close to where ABRAHAM MYERS patented his land. By 01 March 1860, Samuel W. Moore increased his holdings under combined Patents #21223 and #21334 thouth the US Gov't's General Land Office for 19963 acres. All but 40 acres were in the same Section 36, which included parts: The Western 1/2 of South East 1/4 and the NorthEast 1/4 of the SE 1/4. The other 40 acres were more directly south of Carbon Hill. Some of his early neighbors in surrrounding sections who were there between 1822 and 1838 were: Ashley and John Aldridge, Joseph Allen, James Barbee, Isaac Brown, Alexander McDonald, John Phillips, Alexander and William Richey, William R. Sanders, Samuel Tucker and Jeptha White. Earlier in 1820, there was a SAMUEL MOORE living in Lawrence County, Alabama, as well as other moores: Henly, Henry, and James Moore. Also John, Joseph and Robert D. Moore. In 1820, our SAMUEL W. MOORE would have been only 16 years old in 1820, however, Whether these were related families is unknown at this time. . The 1840 Census in Walker Co., AL, showed two Moore families. There was SAMUEL MOORE, age 30-40 and MOSES MOORE, age 30-40. There had been a MOSES MOORE earlier on the 1830 Census in Franklin Co., AL. Same? The 1850 Census, Walker Co., AL, District 11, 24 Oct 1850, page 269-N and 280A, Dwelling and Family 21: SAMUEL MOORE 46 Farmer Real Estate Value $300 born TN PRUDENCE 37 born TN JAMES 17 born AL ORLENA 15 " EMILEY 13 " FRANCES 11 " JOHN 4 " HUSTEN (Houston) 3 " The Family of MOSES MOORE, age 54 also born in TN was on this census. This family was livinhg next doow to a widow, ANN MOORE and her children. ANN also named a daughter, Emily. In 1860, the census showed widow PRUDENCE MOORE, age 47. SAMUEL was deceased although he had additional land patents dated this year. That was simply the date the President of the United States got around to signing the land patent; not the date he applied to the additional land patents. At home with widowed mother in 1860 were: DEMANDA age 20 SAMUEL P. age 15 JOHN age 13 GEORGE age 11 MARY D. age 1. In 1870, PRUDENCE and youngest daughter, MARY, were living with son, SAMUEL and his young bride, Virginia. SAMUEL was erroneously identified as black instead of white. In 1880, PRUDENCE was 66, born TN, both parents born in TN. Living with her was youngest daughter, MARY J., 23, and her first husband, RICHARD CASTLEBERRY, 22 and their 8 month old son, GEORGE M. CASTLEBERRY, plus a boarder, JAMES H. LAWIMORE. What I have on their children (right or wrong): 1. (M) JAMES M. MOORE, born between 1833- 1834, Walker Co., AL . He married about 1857 to NANCY A. M. BAKER. He died in 1863 during the Civil War from Measles. 2 (F) ORLEANA MELISSA MOORE, born 22 Jan 1836, Walker Co., AL; married about 1857, Walker Co., AL, to JAMES HARVY HENDON, the oldest son of WILLIAM HENDON and SARAH DICKCON (who were married in Morgan Co., AL). One of their infant Hendon children was buried in the same Cemetery with Samuel and Prodence. ORLEANA died 24 March 1912, Walker Co., AL. They were buried in the Chickasaw Cemetery on a hill, outside Carbon Hill, on the old highway to Jasper. I have seen where some surveyors have included this in the Scott Cemetery but they are not together. 3 (F) EMILY L. MOORE, born 1837, married about 1856 to THOMAS J. GUTTERY.
