Do you have information on John D ? Phillips and Miley Phillips of "old Argo"? Also, N.E. Phillips who married C.L. Sanders? My grandparents, Louvina Caroline Argo and Sylvanus Hamilton married on 3 Dec. 1893 "at the home of Mrs. Miley Phillips. According to records it was a double ceremony with N.E. Phillips and C.L. Sanders. It would appear that there is a family connection. My late uncle wrote "It was a double marriage ceremony with Uncle John D. Phillips." Perhaps the "Uncle Phillips performed the ceremony? Re: the book on Walker County to which Delilah is referring. This is the book by John Martin Dombart, "History of Walker County", 1937. Many counties had a biographical book *compiled* before and during this time. As with all of these books the information must be confirmed with reliable sources. Reprints are available, one from the daughter of the late congressman Carl Elliott. You can get information at http://webpages.charter.net/carlaelliottbooks/ link to Alabama Books.
