    3. My interest in Walker County is DUTTON and related families. About 1839 several Dutton families migrated from Lawrence and Morgan counties to Walker County, along with many other families of that area. James DUTTON was born 4 Jan 1807 in Granville County, North Carolina and died 30 Apr 1885 in Walker County, Alabama. (I believe him to be the son of John DUTTON and Omah PARRISH.) James married Mary IRWIN (daughter of William IRWIN and Elizabeth FORESTER), who born ca. 1807 in Kentucky and died after 1880 in Walker County, Alabama. Children: 1. Mary Jane DUTTON, born 2 Jan 1834 in Morgan County, Alabama, died 26 Dec 1903 in Walker County, Alabama; married 1859 in Walker County, Alabama to Reuben KEETON. 2. Alexander DUTTON, born ca. 1835 in Morgan County, Alabama, died 1849/50 in Walker County, Alabama. 3. William DUTTON, born 1 May 1838 in Morgan County, Alabama, died 29 May 1912 in Walker County, Alabama; married (1) ca. 1860 in Walker County, Alabama to Mariah KEETON, (2) ca. 1900-10 to Mary SIDES. 4. Simeon B. DUTTON, born ca. 1840 in Walker County, Alabama, died ca. 1864-1870; married ca. 1860 in Walker County, Alabama to Rebecca HAMILTON. 5. George W. DUTTON, born 1841 in Walker County, Alabama, died ca. 1875-80 in Walker County, Alabama; married ca. 1862-68 in Walker County, Alabama to Mrs. Mary FERGUSON (née BROWN). 6. Martin N. DUTTON, born ca. 1845/46 in Walker County, Alabama, died ca. 1860 in Walker County, Alabama. 7. Thomas F. DUTTON, born 14 Feb 1849 in Walker County, Alabama, died 24 Mar 1917 in Walker County, Alabama; married (1) ca. 1867 in Walker County, Alabama to Louisa E. CARMICHAEL, (2) ca. 1890 to Mrs. Sarah ROWE (née BANKS). 8. Elizabeth Ann DUTTON, born 4 May 1850 in Walker County, Alabama, died 7 Apr 1925 in Fisk, Coleman County, Texas; married May 1872 in Walker County, Alabama to Christopher Columbus HAMILTON. For more information, see my website: http://www.zdutton.org/data/jasdutton.html Jarrard (Jarrett) DUTTON was born ca. 1790 in Charles County, Maryland, and died between 1830 and 1840, possibly in Walker County, Alabama. He married 14 Feb 1820 in Lawrence County, Alabama to Charity McDANIEL/McDONALD. They disappear from Lawrence County after 1830, but their children reappear in the 1840s and 1850s in Walker County, leading me to believe they may have been a part of the ca. 1839 migration. Children: 1. Zachariah DUTTON, born ca. 1821 in Lawrence County, Alabama, died Feb 1864 in Georgia in service of Confederate States Army; married ca. 1851 in Walker County, Alabama to Mary Emily RUSHING. 2. Mary Permelia DUTTON, born 1824 in Lawrence County, Alabama, died 28 Aug 1886 in Itawamba County, Mississippi; married 1842 in Lawrence County, Alabama to John BROWN. 3. William DUTTON, born ca. 1824 in Lawrence County, Alabama, died after 1893 in Marion County or Walker County, Alabama; married ca. 1853 in Walker County, Alabama to Martha McDONALD. 4. Levi DUTTON, born ca. 1825 in Lawrence County, Alabama, died ca. 1870 in Cherokee County, Texas; married 9 Jan 1851 in Cherokee County, Texas to Nancy ALLEN. For more information, see my website: http://www.zdutton.org/data/jgdutton.html I am looking for any information I can find on these families and especially to get in touch with descendants. I am also interested in the other families that migrated with my Duttons from Morgan and Lawrence counties, including KITCHENS, SPARKS, HAMILTON, IRWIN, and BROWN. More generally, I am interested in Southern Unionism in this part of the state and the varying sentiments towards secession and the Civil War in Walker County. I live in Huntsville, Alabama and am a full-time university student in history, but am willing to do simple lookups occasionally at Huntsville's Heritage Room. Best regards, Joseph T. Richardson http://www.zdutton.org/ On Thu, Oct 23, 2008 at 1:49 PM, Brian Davis <bdavis@alum.emory.edu> wrote: > ALWALKER gang, > > Thanks to Karen for her gracious apology.
