I awoke early, feeling better, arose, got some water and washed, but I was so miserably filthy and dirty haveing worn one suit all this time without washing that it almost made me sick. I looked round and talked with some of the old Prisoners. I found we were in prison no. 3. It was an enclosure of about four acres and contained 69 mess rooms which, with a forced effort, could be made to bunk 20 men. We formed a mess by order of the Provost, and was put in the next highest number to those filled which was no. 37. I am sorry to say that I don't have knowledge as to where William and Minerva are buried. I have dates of birth for Penninia as August 29, 1836 in Alabama, date of death as March 15, 1916 in Alabama. These dates are from her grave marker at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette County, Alabama. Her marker has the surname of Russell, so I would say that her last marriage would have been to James R. Russell. Another source has given her name as Simmons as married to Russell. And yet another source other than yourself has given the surname Swindle, that I also show. I don't have either of the dates of marriage and show her with ten children by James Russell, born from about 1863 to December 1882. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dan & Paula Harry" <DHARRY@pa.rr.com> To: <alwalker@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 26, 2008 2:22 PM Subject: Re: [ALWALKER] ALWALKER Digest, Vol 3, Issue 67 > Okay....Penninnia's sister Elizabeth Kilgore married Wiley Davis and they > were my great, great grandparents. > > I have 2 husbands for Penn. Polly (Romie) Rommie Looking for information on Polly Rommie who married John M. Knight. She was born in Alabama and her parents were Ga. and S.C. Found her in the 1880 Census but that's the only time I have found them. Thanks. -- Julie Hedberg http://www.jenkinsmckeefamilytree.com
I have "Levi" W. Jenkins born July 21, 1835, Morgan Co., AL, died September 3, 1895, Walker Co., AL, buried in the Frost Cemetery. Levi was son of Jane Jenkins and unidentified father. Jane was the daughter of Lewis Williams Jenkins, Sr. and Mary Ann Sanders. His mother Jane, then married Edmond Frost and they moved to Walker Co., AL. Levi married Susan A. (I don't know who she was). If you can't find her death certificate, which might show where she was buried, you might find the death certificate of one of their children, which would probably show mother's maiden name. Some of their children were also buried in the Frost Cemetery. The 1880 Census in Walker County shows the following Children: 1) Levi S. Jenkins (or Levi, Jr.), born about 1866; 2) Greenberry Jenkins, born March 1870; 3) Thomas F. Jenkins, b. 1872, 4) S. H. Jenkins, b. 1875; 5) Anderson Jenkins, b. 1876; and 6) S.A. (Sidney A.), b. 1880. I hope this might be of some help. Ann S.
