    3. BLM is the US Bureau of Land Management. Their website is a great resource for finding your ancestors property and learning the names of their neighbors. You can do this by changing the search terms (section #, range, township) once you locate a property of interest. http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ When you go to their website, click on "Search Land Patents." 2. Remember Paula these people were still pioneers moving into what was then the west. There were Indian trails and wagon trails through Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to Texas. Not many frills. The trails to the Oregon Trail were much more advanced and still there are hundreds of unmarked graves and unknown burials along these trails. You might try the BLM records for Alabama and find some of your long dead relatives. That was how I was able to find the trail of some of my ancestors on all sides. **************Recession-proof vacation ideas. 3. When Caroline and I went to check out this cemetery in 2002 or so, it had been heavily damaged, and many of these stones, including the ones of James Matlock Kitchens and Sally Brown Kitchens, had been lost. We were making efforts, through some old photographs that showed the locations of the graves, to have the stones replaced and the graves re-marked. Does anybody know if this was ever done? --Joseph On Fri, May 22, 2009 at 3:00 PM, Delilah <diamond6468@mindspring.com> wrote: > KITCHENS FAMILY CEMETERY; > Three miles west of Jasper, Alabama > > James Matlock KITCHENS born in TN., Aug 7, 1796 - d. 2. Sorry Paula, nothing much on Minerva PATTON KILGORE. I have that she and William KILGORE had 12 children between 1833 and about 1854 in Walker Co. Some census records is about what I have on this family. Best resource I've seen on Patton Hill is the "Here We Rest" vol 7, great survey, but I'm betting there are unmarked graves, broken headstones, etc that "keep their secrets". 2. Paula, the earliest I found was Newt Pattpn 1885. As I said there are 145 unmarked graves, and they could have been there much longer. I do not if there is a church on the cemetery property or not. That is southwest Walker and I live in Northeast Walker. **************Recession-proof vacation ideas.
