I am looking for information on a John T. Kay, age 35 born in Georgia who was living in Tuscaloosa Co., Ala. in 1860. He had a wife, Rebecca Kay. Rebecca was 27 and born in about 1833 in South Carolina. They had a child named James Kay, age 8 born in Georgia and then a son age 5 with no name listed and then a daughter, Mary V. Kay age 1 born in Ala. The son before Mary was also born in Ala. I would like to find out more about this family and anyone who may be descended from them. It would be most interesting to know what Rebecca Kay's maiden name was. I don't know but I feel like maybe there is a connection somehow between my Larkin Kay born in 1808-1810 in South Carolina and his wife Elizabeth Landers who was born in about 1825- 1829 in either South Carolina or Georgia. I know that Larkin Kay had a son named John T.Kay but it was a different man entirely. There were two by that name in Alabama in 1860. The other John T. Kay, Larkins son was in Calhoun Co. Alabama in 1860 census. I don't know if this young man was somehow related to Larkin Kay and that even maybe his wife, Rebecca might be related to my Elizabeth Landers Kay. My Great Grandmothers Bible says that her mother, Emma Malissa Kay was born in Aug. of 1862 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Larkin Kay and Elizabeth Landers Kay had not lived there previously and they didn't seem to stay there but perhaps they were there visiting with the family of John T. Kay. I know that this John T. Kay went off to fight in the Civil War and died in about 1862, I think it was. Another thing, Larkin Kay was born in South Carolina and one of the census I saw said that Elizabeth Landers Kay was born in S.C. and the other one said Georgia. I don't know for sure where she was born but the death certificate for their daughter, Lucy Kay in 1945 said that her parents were both born in Alabama. I think that was a mistake and assumed since the children were all born in Alabama, but I don't know for sure. Any help with some background on this John T. Kay and his wife, Rebecca Kay would sure be apprecited and especially if anyone knows Rebecca kay's maiden name or any connection between her or her husband and Larkin Kay and Elizabeth Landers.
