I am looking for the parents of my GG Grandmother, Emma Malissa Kay Little who was born on Aug. 12, 1862 in Tusculoosa, Ala. I know some of her siblings. She had a little sister named Lucy Kay who was born in Sept. 1865-67 in Ala. Lucy got real sick and ran a high fever and as a result became retarded. Emma looked after Lucy for the rest of her life. Emma had an older brother, Elijah Kay who was born in 1861 in Ala. and there was a sister named Mary Kay who married John Wesley Little. Something happened to their parents and the Kay children were taken in by the Joseph Early Little family. Years later, Emma married their youngest son, Richard Newman Little and her sister, Mary married Richard Newman's older brother, John Wesley Little. The Littles also lived in Alabama but I have them living in Calhoun County when the Civil War broke out. Joseph Early Little and all of his sons except the youngest, Richard, fought for the south in the Civil War. Joseph was from Jackson Co., Georgia before moving to Alabama and the whole family eventually left Alabama and moved to Chickasaw Co., Miss. I found them living there in 1880 when Richard Newman and Emma Kay Little were newly weds. Emma's brother, Elijah Kay was living with them at the time. I had heard that there might be a brother by the name of William Kay also, but I do not know about that for sure. Emma Malissa Kay's oldest child was my great grandmother, Mary Susanna [Mamie] Salina Little Johnson. I know that people tended to name their children after their relatives. I know that the Salina came from Joseph Early Little's wife, Salina Dodson Little, but I don't know where the Mary Susanna came from. I wonder if maybe it came from the Kay family? Could anyone help me with this family? Mary Kay and John Wesley Little continued to live in Miss. and had three children, Joe, Rosa and Johnnie Little. The rest of the Little's moved to Milam Co., Texas and settled there. Emma Kay Little had most all of her children in Houston, Miss. and so they lived there for a while before moving to Texas. Thank you, Jane Little McEndree
