Peggy Sue: RootsWeb's mailing lists only pass text content, not attachments. Therefore, you cannot get a virus from list mail. But, you could receive a virus from an infected fellow listmember -- sent directly to your e-mail address and not through the list itself. And, if you have your e-mail address on a web page, you're vulnerable there. The newer viruses (SirCam for example) are sending mail out to addresses found in the web-page cache. One must exercise due dilligence in keeping anti-virus software up to date and running regular virus scans. The alternates are simple -- get infected or give up on the Internet. Regards, Elsi
