Hello all, I thought I'd look for information on my Norris family from Tuscaloosa County, AL, using Martha A. Norris as today's focal point. After all, today is her birthday. On 22 December 1857, Martha A. Norris was born to George Washington Norris and Mary Ann Hewett in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. She joined an already large family with older brother Collin Finnell, and sisters Sarah, Louise, Harriet, and Amanda. Two more children followed her in the next five years: a second brother John Hewitt, and another sister, Mary. I have very little information on this family. George W. Norris was the youngest brother of my ancestor, Thomas Jackson Norris. Many of these Norris folks were members of Nazareth Primitive Baptist Church in Samantha -- and were buried in the graveyard there.
