I'm looking for information about Tates in Tuscaloosa Co AL in late 1830s and early 1840s. My ancestor Jacob Tate who was listed in 1840 census Jefferson Co AL had 1 son who was in the Union Army in Arkansas. He was listed as having been born in Tuscaloosa Co AL. His name was Jeremiah J. Tate born 1839. Jeremiah had two cousins named Thomas W. and John R. who also were in the Union Army and who each listed Tuscaloosa Co AL as their birthplace. They were the sons of William Tate B:1812 SC who was the son of Henry Tate B:1786 VA. Thomas W. Tate was born in 1846 and his brother was listed as 18 years old in 1863 making him born c1845.
