I am trying to verify or disprove a family story, and could use a little help. The story is that my gggrandmother and her family lived across a river from the nearest town. She was not allowed to go into town for parties or dances, so she used to wait until the coast was clear, then swim the river with her clothes tied on top of her head. She would return home the same way. There was a ferry crossing the river, but since her brothers ran the ferry, she didn't dare try to take that. I am interested in finding more about this ferry and about her family. Here is what information I have been able to find about my gggrandmother and her family: Wiley Watson b. July 13, 1800 SC d.
