    1. [ALTUSCAL] shuttlesworth, smith
    2. I found this in some records from my research: AL Records-Civil Records 1836-1838 May 18, 1849 NANCY MOORE, widow of MICHAEL MOORE, deceased, his son, Wm. M. MOORE, Admin: Securities: William DOWDLE, NANCY MOORE. Appraisers: WM DOWDLE, PHILLIP SHETTLESWORTH, DAVID LINLEY, JAMES DOWDLE, ROBERT MITCHELL In my search for JAMES MONROE SMITH, SR. & JR.(b. Jan. 1866 Cottondale, Tuscaloosa, AL), my grandfather & great grandfather, I find that these same names again in the SHUTTLESWORTH line -MARY CATHERINE to ANDREW SMITH. I find this strange as PHILLIP SHUTTLESWORTH'S widow, NANCY m. to WILLIAM VANCE raised my grandfather,(Jr). In a letter my grandfather wrote he said he was about 3 years old when he was supposed to be adopted. His father and mother were JAMES MONROE SMITH and MATILDA SMITH. His father died when he was an infant. James didn't know where they lived. In 1935, they were both deceased. Is there something here or is it a coincidence? If anyone finds a clue please let me know. I figured that PHILLIP and MARY CATHERINE'S father were brothers. Didn't I figure correctly? Thanks, Kay
