Jesse Beck and sons William, James and Edom (sometimes E.M.) migrated to Tuscaloosa and Pickens about 1830 (or so). Later, they were joined by sons Jeffrey and Jesse Jr. By 1850, only Jeffrey and Edom remained, and many of their children's marriages are listed in Pauline Gandrud's extracts. Thomas Pate moved to Tuscaloosa at the same time, obtaining land near his daughter Peggy Pate Beck and son-in-law William Beck. Their land was in the northeast part of Pickens county south of Gordo. I have been unable to connect Thomas to better known Pates, such as Charles, Newell, Gilbert et al, but feel certain they are related in some way since Charles and Thomas both came from Morgan County, Ga. It is thought that Charles and Thomas were brothers. Does anyone know who the parents of Newell and Gilbert were? Hoping to connect with other Beck and Pate cousins. Linda
