The Annual John Norris Reunion /Norris - Wilson Family Reunion is being held on Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Nazareth Church in Samantha. Hours are from 10:30 until everyone leaves. John Norris brought his pioneer family to the Tuscaloosa County area around 1818-1819 from Caldwell County, Kentucky. He built a cabin on Binnion Creek where he raised his large family and farmed near the church he built and where he preached. His children included Thomas Jefferson Norris, William Sirus Norris, George Washington, James Madison, Mrs. James (Sarah)Parker, Mrs Isaac (Mary) Hewitt, Mrs. John (Rachel) Brown, & Mrs Thomas C.(Jincy Jane) Clements. Related family names include Hewitt, Deal, Griffin, Snyder, Ramsey, Evans, Clements, Brown, Parker, Collins, Estes,Gregg, Mitchell, Smith, Stokes, Kizziah and others. William John and Sarah Wilson settled were married in 1823 and settled down to farm nearby. They raised children, James, John H., Elias, and Sarah Wilson. All descendants and friends are welcome.
