A Beck cousin just pointed out to me that there is a land grant for Thomas and William Pate in Tuscaloosa, on March 30, 1837 for 159.6 acres. The deed mentions that the land is held in common and not as joint tenancy. Apparently this is the land on which the Pate cemetery is located: SW 23, 21S. 12W. While the deed doesn't state a relationship between the two men, it seems obvious to me that Thomas and William are either brothers or father and son. It just doesn't seem logical that it would be between uncle and nephew....to me anyway. Has anyone else seen this before or have any other information on it? I'd also like to hear others thoughts on the relationship between Thomas and William. Linda
