The Eggers are an old and well-known family here in the Columbus area. There was an Egger's clothing store downtown for many years when I was growing up, and one of the teachers at the high school was a Caledonia Egger. I just checked the phone book and there are still 10 Eggers living in Caledonia, and 2 living in Columbus, one of whom is named Dayton. Just out of curiosity I looked up Eggers on the 1880 Mississippi census CDs. I found 68 individuals listed. Every single one was living in Caledonia, Lowndes, Mississippi. I did not find a listing for Claude, Rushton, or Clearman. I hope this helps some one.
