MaizeHello list. My grandmother, Julie Bowden Montgomery b. 1895 Coffee Co. AL, had several photos in her trunk without any names written on the back. One is a large photo which could be either a large family gathering or a church/community photo -- over 20 people. This could be either her husband's family (Montgomery -- Tuscaloosa Co., or Wickers, Tuscaloosa Co. or Coffee Co.) or it could be hers (Bowden or Sexton, Coffee or Covington Co.). It is hard to say because there are people in it who look like members of our family today, just don't know which side they got their looks from. I tend to think it is either Montgomerys or Wickers. If you are from one of these families, I would be glad to send the photo to see if you can identify anyone. Regards, Melissa Warren Tuscaloosa Co. AL -- MONTGOMERY, WICKER, ISAACS Coffee Co. Hi everyone I am new to this list and am hoping someone can help. I have only just found out that my grandfather died in Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa in 1912. I have a copy of his death cert but am wondering if it is possible to obtain copies of any hospital records. I have seen it mentioned that it is possible to see the records at the hospital but I live in Scotland so a visit is out of the question. Also my grandparents lived in Philadelphia until 1905 and were members of the United Presbyterian Church there. Is (was) there a Presbyterian church in Tuscaloosa? Hope someone can help! I searched long and hard for his death in Pennsylvania before finding him in Alabama by a stroke of luck. Thanks in advance. Betty Scott

I am looking for the Kay family from Tusculoosa in the 1860's and maybe 1870's. My GG Grandmother was Emma Malissa Kay and she married Richard Newman Little who was also born in Alabama. I was told that Emma became an orphan as a child and was raised by the Little family. I don't know how old she was when this happened. Emma was born on August 12, 1862 in Tusculoosa, Ala. and died on Jan. 15, 1913 in Burlington, Texas in Milam County. I have no idea who her parents were but she had a brother named Elijah Kay who was born in 1861 in Ala. and a younger sister named Lucy Kay who was born in abt. 1865-67 in Ala. and she had a sister, think she was older named Mary Kay who married John Wesley Little, one of the older Little boys and they married and lived in Chickasaw Co., Mississippi. I don't know anything about Mary Kay except that she died young and that it is also said that John Wesley Little also married another Kay sister but no one knows what her name was. I am thinking she was also older then my Emma Kay. I have looked in Tusculoosa, Ala, township and there are no Kays there and am now looking at other townships and have still not found any Kays in 1860 in Tusculoosa Co., Ala but have quite a few to still go through. I have gone through Tusculoosa, Adison, Bells, Blockes Beat and Carthage so far. Does anyone know of any Kay's in Tus. in about this time period? Jane Little McEndree janemc@airmail.net
My ancestor, James M. Lindsey married Elizabeth M. HYCH on May 26, 1858 at the residence of Samuel Hych in Tuscaloosa County, near Coker. (2 years later in the census her name appears as Emeline M.) Does anyone have further info on the Hych family? Thanks!

The subject of copyrighting crops up often among folks doing research. It was brought up at the last society meeting. Thanks to Kay Koonce for sending me this url to find an article on the subject. <http://www.interment.net/column/commentery/19990915,htm> I hope you enjoy it and benefit from it.Most libraries have a book on the subject.Laws change from time to time and it is hard to keep up with new ones. Kay and Jim are listing the graves at the HOLLIS-BOLIN cemetery near Sulligent, Al. It needs work.So if you have relations there, you might want to help in some way. Maybe we will have an update after the land owners are contacted and more info comes in. Jean Carr Always inerested in Your LINKS!

According to the Tuscaloosa Heritage book Daniel is the s/o JOHN SNIDER, he is the s/o JACOB & SUSANNAH SNIDER......
