This is a reminder, and an invitation, for you to attend the monthly meeting of the Autauga Genealogical Society next Sunday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prattville Public Library. Our guest speaker will be Billie Capell from Montgomery, a member of the Alabama Genealogy Society. She will present a program on early land record research, with an emphasis on Autauga County. Make plans now to attend. Spread the word to our fellow members, and bring a friend. Hope to see you next Sunday. Your "fellow digger", Larry E. Caver, Jr.
Denver Ragland has completed the final version of Bibb and Perry County Hobsons descended from Samuel Hobson, Quaker, who came to Al. in the 1800s. This Samuel was descended from George Hobson, a Quaker from Yorkshire, England. Some of the related families are: Bamberg, Hoggle, Mitchell, Latner, Morrison, Caudle, Murphy, McClain/McLain, Mathews, Toomey, Shows, Colburn and more. As Denver is in poor health, he wishes to dispose of the books before "cold and rainy weather." He tells me he is 75. If you want to order a book, you will have to contact Denver directly at 136 Mini Bike Trail, West Blocton, Al. 35184. The cost is $34.50 plus shipping for first book at $4.00 each, $3.00 for each additional book (I presume he means ordered and shipped at the same time). The book will be available October 24,, 2002. He doesn't say how many he has ordered but I do know he is only charging publishing cost as he has no desire to profit from this huge undertaking. First come, first served, he said. DJ
