    2. BEASEY HENDRIX, JR.
    3. Helloooo out there, I'm just happy to be home in my apt. You see I have been sick and in the DCH Medical Center for my illness and it took three times in the DCH to find out that I was Sick. Three times for a total of 8 days plus 7 hours as this is a part of the time that I was in sick. If you think this is confusion then just think how I feel about it. I was sicker than a bull doing what it shouldn't be doing right now? RESTING!!! That's all folks, Beasey Hendrix, Jr. Member, Heritage Commission of Tuskaloosa County Member, Black Warrior River Chapter, SAR, Tuskaloosa Member, Gen R E Rodes Camp #262, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Tuskaloosa, Alabama.

    1. [ALTUSCAL] William and Jane (Dowdle) DUNCAN Family
    2. Hildred A Carlson
    3. Looking for info about William and Jane Dowdle DUNCAN. I do not know the dates of their births, deaths or their marriage. They had large mercantile interest in or near Columbus, Lowndes Co., MS when one of their children, William Pinkney Duncan was born 23 Feb. 1826 about three miles from the City of Columbus, Lowndes Co. MS. I do not know if they had other children. I am looking for a list of their children. My g-grandfather, James H. Duncan, born c. 1827. married Lucretia Ann Cooper in Tuscaloosa Co., AL on 23 July 1859, MAY have been their son. There was a John Duncan who married Mary Ann Dowdle in Tuscaloosa Co., AL in 1825. Was John and William brothers and Mary Ann and Jane sisters? There was a William Duncan (b. 1797 in SC) who married Mrs. Elizabeth Hendricks (b. 1797 in VA) on 10 Jan. 1834 in Lowndes Co. MS. Mrs. Elizabeth Hendricks Duncan had a daughter, Rebecca Hendricks, whom they gave permission on June 1834 to marry Lor W. Laws. I do not know if this William was the husband of Jane Dowdle and father of Wm. P. Duncan or not - just info that might be helpful. Any info on William and Jane Dowdle Duncan will be greatly appreciated. Hildred Carlson . .

    1. [ALTUSCAL] NW-AL New Most wanted web site
    2. Sue Palmer~Elliott
    3. Hi everyone, I have requested and received a new web site to accompany this list. It will be a Most Wanted site for our ancestors. http://www.rootsweb.com/~alnwmw/index.html I have it ready to load your information. I need for those of you who want your "Most Wanted" ancestors posted, please send the names and a brief paragraph about them, with dates of birth, places of birth and location as to where they lived...as much information as you can to help others to help you. If need be, I reserve the right to edit the queries if they are too long, leaving the important data, of course. Please include your email address and name in the query so I don't have to look it up. That gets time consuming. Please do not send this information to the list but to palliott@quik.com Remember, the more exposure our ancestor's names and information gets, the better chance we have of learning more about them. Thank you, Sue Palmer~Elliott NW-Alabama List Administrator

Yerby, married to Martha "Mattie" Wimble; and half-sisters by John J.'s first wife, Elenor , Martha A. and Lucinda C.Yerby. According to Pickens Co. AL census records 1850 through 1880, John J. lived in Pickens Co. in the Carrollton, AL area as did his son, James M. Yerby and his family. Wm. Richard and his family may have also lived in Pickens Co. at times, however, he was living in Coker, Tuscaloosa Co., AL in 1900 (census). I will be very grateful for ANY info on the family of Wm. Richard "Dick" Yerby. I know there are still Yerby's in Tuscaloosa and Pickens counties. Hopefully, descendants of this family. Please let me hear from you. 1. [ALTUSCAL] Jemima Holliman/Hollomon
    2. Hildred A Carlson
    3. I saw a post on the YERBY rootsweb recently that I believe to be incorrect unless there were two Jemima/Jemimah Yerby's who married an Elijah Holliman/Holomon. The text of the post was. "Old Robertson Cemetery, Northport, Tuscaloosa Co., AL, Jemima Yerby, 1777-Dec. 1851 age 74 years, married Elijah Holomon.". Supposedly, this was a copy of an inscription on a gravestone. My ggg grandparents, Amon and Rachel Yerby's oldest child, Jemimah b. 1817 in NC married Nathaniel Elijah Holliman/Holomon on March 24, 1837 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL. They were counted on the 1850 Marion Co., AL census - Elijah Holliman age 36, Jemimah age 33, Rachel age 8, Mary (Frances) age 5. On the 1860 Marion Co. AL census - Elijah age 46, Jemimah age 43, Rachel age 18, Mary age 15, William M. ("Bud") age 4. According to family tradition, they left AL and moved to TX. I have no record of where they were residing or counted on the 1870 (census). They were counted on the 1880 Collin Co., TX census in Precinct 4. (Source: FHL Film 1255296 National Archives Film T9-1296 Page 174C.) Elijah Holliman Self age 64, Jemima Wife age 63, William M. Son age 23, Laura Dau.-inl-law age 24, Martha Granddaughter age 1. I have no other info about the daughters, Rachel and Mary, after the 1860 Marion Co., AL census. Again, according to family tradition, the son, Wm. M. "Bud", moved back to AL, time unknown. MAYBE Elijah had died and Wm. M. moved his family and his Mother back to Tuscaloosa Co., AL and when Jamima/Jamimah died, she was buried in Old Robertson Cemetery in Northport, AL and her birth and death dates were not legible on her gravestone. If the gravestone inscription is correct, this is not Jemimiah, the daughter of Amon and Rachel Yerby. Amon was not born until 1784. If ANYONE can confirm or deny the info on the gravestone or share info on this Elijah and Jemimah Holliman/Hollomon family, I will be very grateful. Maybe some of the Holliman/Holloman family researchers could help me with this question. 1. [ALTUSCAL] John T. Kay
    2. janemc
    3. I am looking for information on a John T. Kay, age 35 born in Georgia who was living in Tuscaloosa Co., Ala. in 1860. He had a wife, Rebecca Kay. Rebecca was 27 and born in about 1833 in South Carolina. They had a child named James Kay, age 8 born in Georgia and then a son age 5 with no name listed and then a daughter, Mary V. Kay age 1 born in Ala. The son before Mary was also born in Ala. I would like to find out more about this family and anyone who may be descended from them. It would be most interesting to know what Rebecca Kay's maiden name was. I don't know but I feel like maybe there is a connection somehow between my Larkin Kay born in 1808-1810 in South Carolina and his wife Elizabeth Landers who was born in about 1825- 1829 in either South Carolina or Georgia. I know that Larkin Kay had a son named John T.Kay but it was a different man entirely. There were two by that name in Alabama in 1860. The other John T. Kay, Larkins son was in Calhoun Co. Alabama in 1860 census. I don't know if this young man was somehow related to Larkin Kay and that even maybe his wife, Rebecca might be related to my Elizabeth Landers Kay. My Great Grandmothers Bible says that her mother, Emma Malissa Kay was born in Aug. of 1862 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Larkin Kay and Elizabeth Landers Kay had not lived there previously and they didn't seem to stay there but perhaps they were there visiting with the family of John T. Kay. I know that this John T. Kay went off to fight in the Civil War and died in about 1862, I think it was. Another thing, Larkin Kay was born in South Carolina and one of the census I saw said that Elizabeth Landers Kay was born in S.C. and the other one said Georgia. I don't know for sure where she was born but the death certificate for their daughter, Lucy Kay in 1945 said that her parents were both born in Alabama. I think that was a mistake and assumed since the children were all born in Alabama, but I don't know for sure. Any help with some background on this John T. Kay and his wife, Rebecca Kay would sure be apprecited and especially if anyone knows Rebecca kay's maiden name or any connection between her or her husband and Larkin Kay and Elizabeth Landers. John T. Kay and Rebecca Kay are in the same age group as Elizabeth Kay. Thanks, Jane Little McEndree janemc@airmail.net

    1. [ALTUSCAL] Kay Family in Tuscaloosa

    3. I am looking for the family of Larkin Kay in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the 1860's. I know that he and his family were in Talladega Co., Alabama in the 1860 census but my GG Grandmother, Emma Malissa Kay was born in August of 1862 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama according to my great grandmother's Bible record. Emma had a brother, Elijah Kay who was born in 1861 and a sister, Lucy Kay who was born in 1865. I know they were born in Alabama but don't know if they were born in the same place as Emma or not. By 1870, I think that Larkin Kay was dead because I found his wife, Elizabeth Kay, age 45 as the head of the house in the 1870 census for Perry Co., Alabama. At some time during the 1870's Elizabeth also died leaving their children as orphans. The family of Joseph Early Little took the children in and raised them from that point on. The Little family lived next door to Elizabeth Kay in the 1870 census. In the census, Elizabeth had a daughter with her named Martha Kay who was 14 years old and a daughter, Lucy Kay who was 5 years old. I don't know where the other children were at that time. The Kay children were: Mary E. Kay born about 1852 Martha M. Kay born about 1853 or later. W.L. Kay son born about 1854 R.E. Kay son born about 1852 and may have been a twin to Mary Kay. Elijah Kay born 1861 in Ala. Emma Malissa Kay born Aug. 1862 in Ala. Lucy A. Kay born Sept. 1865 in Ala. The father was Larkin Kay and the mother was Elizabeth Landers Kay. Larkin was born in South Carolina about 1808-1810 and Elizabeth Landers Kay was born about 1825-1829 in South Carolina, Georgia or Alabama. I have heard all three places so don't know which one it is. I wonder if Larkin Kay may have died in Tuscaloosa Co. at some point after Lucy was born in Sept. 1865. He was evidently alive in Jan. of 1865. Thank you for your help. Jane Little McEndree janemc@airmail.net
