    1. [ALTUSCAL] Re: Historic Site
    2. BEASEY HENDRIX, JR.
    3. GREETINGS!!!!!!!! Who is in favor of the city making a historic park down on the area where the city owns the land where the Bama Belle is docked. What must it be called? The Eddins Memorial Park is what it must be named. Who has the authority to name it? No doubt it is counselmen Potts, Cunningham, Taylor, Powell, Kinder and Lee Garrison. How many citizens with knowledge of local history was appointed to the Riverwalk project by the powers to be? Why was there not a member of the Heritage Commission of Tuscaloosa County? Do we have any one that has a knowledge of local history that is Qualified to be appointed? Well counclemen did the city have any one? I hope and pray that each of you will write, call, e-mail and talk to your Member of The city GOVERNMENT and ask them, the city government, to please name it the Eddins Memorial Park as he was only local citizen to give his life defending our city. SUPPORT THE CAUSE, Beasey, Jr. Member, Heritage Commission of Tuscaloosa County PS Will some one please get in touch with the student body at the Univ of Ala, Shelton Community College and Stillman University and ask them to please contact their city counselmen and ask them to please say I will do it.

    3. Looking for my great-grandfather, James H. Duncan,s ancestor's. According to the following census records, I have this info: 1855 Tuscaloosa Co. AL State Census - James H. Duncan was Age 28 with 1 white male over age 21. (James H. b. 1827/28) 1 white female over age 21. 1 white male under age 21. 1 white female under age 21. 1880 Tuscaloosa Co., AL Federal Census - James H. Duncan was white male age 53. (b. 1827) in AL. Lucreita, white, female, age 40. (b. 1840) in AL. Chesley L., white, male, age 19, (b. 1861) in AL. Samual C., white, male, age 15, (b. 1865) in AL. Medora, white, female, age 9, (b. 1871) in AL. Ella, white, female, age 7, (b. 1873) in AL. Elizabeth, white, female, age 4, (b. 1876) in AL. Rachel Ann, white, female, age 1, (b. 1879) in AL. (my grandmother). (Note: There was one more child, a son, Newburn, who was b. on Sept 12, 1880 after the above census was taken.) According to Tuscaloosa Co., AL marriage records, James H. Duncan and Lucreita Ann Cooper were married on July 23, 1859. He bought land and they lived in north Tuscaloosa Co., AL in the New Lexington Community area. I would be very grateful if you would check your records to see if you have any info on this James H. Duncan - parents. siblings or any other info. I am beginning to think that he just "fell out of the sky". Can't even "bump" this brick wall. "Still shaking the Family Tree in search of Great-Grandpa, James H. Duncan." 1. [ALTUSCAL] Re: [STEWART] Benjamin Stewart of AL MS
    2. DS
    3. Benjamin Stewart, middle initial not known, was a probable brother of Larkin, Reuben, Solomon, Charles, William, and Johanna Stewart. He was probably in Lincoln County, TN; relocated with the others to Marion / Fayette County, was probably in Bibb Co, AL in 1818 helping build a road, received land from Solomon Stewart in Tuscaloosa Co (land was in Northport area, I believe); had at some time married Nancy Pullam/Pulliam, and is seen by family oral/tradition to have moved to MS. He is assessed to have been born in NC in late 1790s. If he followed the tradition of his preseumed father Charles, and his brothers, he would have been a farmer and a landowner. One wild and unverifiable assessment is that he died in MS in the 1840's (his presumed brother Solomon, died in MS in 1852, and probably not related). 1. [ALTUSCAL] McAlla & Bucksville Cemetery
    2. Hello fellow listers, I have a few questions that possible someone hear can shed light or give direction on. 1) Does any one know the origins of "McAlla"? It's name and when it was founded? 2) I recently viewed a Bucksville Cemetery listing and was quite disappointed that my Francis McAllister (and wife) were not listed. They were in Tuscaloosa/Bibb/Shelby area by 1822 and he died before 1850 I believe. Anyone have any suggestions on what cemetery he could be in? I realize that he could still be at Bucksville without a stone, but I'm trying to be thorough. :) Thank you, Robin J.
