Hi, I have found family on the 1920 Tusc. Co., AL Fed. Census and am trying to find them on the 1910. I thought I would try and look in the same place they were living in 1920 but the 1910 doesn't have the same precinct number as the 1920. They are listed on the 1920 census in Precinct 30-Rickey. Does anyone know that location? Or where I could find it? Thanks, P. Forister

A couple of summers ago, I set out to find this cemetery because I was told that Abel Pennington, d. 1819, was buried there. We did not find the cemetery. It is way out in the boonies. If you find it, I would love to know how to get there. The next time I go, I will take a guide along. However, the Old Warrior Cemetery is listed (partially) on line at the following URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Ealtuscal/cemetery/warrior.html Directions to the cemetery are included. An index for all these cemeteries is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Ealtuscal/cemetery/index.html Other old Tuscaloosa County Cemeteries are online at the following URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~altuscal/cemetery/beaseyhendrixjr/ Happy hunting. I am looking for the parents of Rachael LOWE b. abt 1810, married to John Jefferson HENRY 1829 in Tuscaloosa Co., AL and was living in Oktibbeha Co., MS by 1840. If you have Rachael in your Lowe Database, I would love to hear from you. Kathleen Burnett
I have several relatives buried at Old Warrior Cemetery, and I would like to know where it is. I am not sure if it is in Walker, Jefferson, or Tuscaloosa, but it is in the vicinity of where these counties meet. My understanding is that it is very hard to get to. Travis Wilson Gilbert, AZ
Re: Joseph Post Hollis A few years ago I went to the Tuscaloosa County Library and found listings for numerous cemetaries. I copied the Vance Family Cemetary and the Vance Cemetary names and a partial listing of Union Presbyterian Cemetary was included as well as Utley Cemetary. This information was found in Volumne VI of the "Cemetary Records of Tuscaloosa Count". I hope this will help.
The only Union Cemetary that I know of is in the Talledega National Forest in South Tuscaloosa County, about 10-15 miles below the Vance/Coaling area. I can give you directions to the Cemetary if you are in the area sometime.
I have been told that some relatives of my husband's are buried at the above cemetery which I have been told is located in a city within the Tuscaloosa Co., AL limits called Vance. I'm not familiar with that area. Does anyone know of this cemetery? I don't think it's listed online. At least I haven't found it being transcribed. I'm looking for a Joseph Post Hollis that could be buried there. His obit says Union Cemetery but no location was listed. His wife's first husband who was a Smith is buried there. Joseph's parents died after him and are buried in Lipscomb, AL in Jefferson County at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Family seems to think Joseph was buried along with his parents but there was no record or tombstone there that I could find of him. That is why I'm thinking with this new information on his wife's first husband he may have been buried at this cemetery in Vance, AL. Can someone help? Thank you, P. Forister Florida

Good Evening, Can anyone tell me something about the man who was honored by "Manly Hall" at the University of Alabama? I am trying to locate information on an ancestor, a Baptist Minister, Rev. B. Manley/Manly, of Tuscaloosa County. He was born ca 1799 in North Carolina. One of his sons was a Charles Manly, who was also of the Baptist Church and also lived in Tuscaloosa County, born ca 1839 in South Carolina. Just wondering if any of these Manly ancestors had anything to do with the University of Alabama. Lola

Phoebe, Do you have a James B. Forrester, born April 1830 in Georgia, who I believe married Letisia Hudson Weaver(?) after 1870? They appear in the 1900 Census in Bessemer, AL. I believe that they were in Tuscaloosa County earlier. I know that my Watts and Weavers are connected to your Hallmans, Sniders, Weavers, and Kyzers.
