It may be that there were sales by Solomon's brothers, just later in time than the deed books I checked. For what it's worth, I found nothing on my Pattersons in the area, either, beyond the land purchases from the government. No sales, no wills. Perhaps probate settlements when there was no will were not recorded in the Will Books? I didn't have a lot of time, unfortunately, just part of a morning. Next time I visit I'll try to figure out what was going on. In the meantime, the Probate Court has a website with a telephone number you can call for genealogy searches. There's probably a charge for a search, but they would at least be able to tell you what would have happened to property when a someone died without a will in that time frame. http://www.tallaco.com/probate.asp is the website, and the phone number for "geneological services" (someone needs to learn to spell!) is 1-256-825-4266. They charge $1/per page for copies of records. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
