Born in 1868 to George Washington Green Turnham and his second wife, Sarah Ann Fields. There is a possibility that he was born somewhere else as George Washington Green Turnham migrated from Tallapoosa County, then Coosa County and eventually Jefferson County. He may have lived in Shelby County because his oldest daughter, by his first wife, married a man from there. But he bought land in Jefferson County and is buried on the property.
