    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: R_L_Dailey Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.tallapoosa/4237/mb.ashx Message Board Post: References: 1 - US census of Tallapoosa Co (Thomas) 1850 Twp 19, 1860 Beat 7. 2 - US Census of Elmore Co 1870 (Dicy) Twp 19 3 - AL state census of 1866, Tallapoosa Co, Schedule 1 (Leodicia Shehorn) 4 - Muster Roll (photostat) of Co E 34th AL Inf; May 24, 1862 5 - Official Records of Civil War, CSA, 1:20 Pvt James Shehorn re battle at Murphysborough TN , early 1863 date. 6 - Alabama widow's pension application (9 page letter loaded with family info) Mrs A P Shehann for deceased vet Isam J Shehann of Co E 34th AL Inf. Oct 1, 1908 from Alph P Shehonn (nee Cook) of Decherd TN Subject pension application indicates Isam Shehann served in Co E, 34th AL with three brothers and father. Also that father and one brother died during the war. Muster Roll indicates Pvts (#73-76) of Tallapoosa Co: Thomas Shehorn 45, J N Shehorn 21, Isham Shehorn 23 and W. M. Shehorn 19. Muster Roll also indicates 4th Cpl James Shehane 25 of Macon Co. 1866 census indicates 1 soldier in family killed and 1 soldier died of disease. Thomas (father) is documented as buried in CSA cem Lauderdale Springs MS. Other three Pvts are noted in later census listings so did not die in service; Joshua, Isham and William Shehorn etc. No later mention of James F Shehorn (15 in 1860 census) is found. However, his age does not match 4th Cpl James nor does Macon Co. I am seeking any further information on brother James F Shehorn and Cpl James Shehorn. Brother James could have been a later recruit after the original muster. I would appreciate any further info on the cause of death of Thomas. Mrs Alpha Shehann (nee Cook) also mentions her "only brother" was killed at Shiloh, no regt given. Thanks, R Dailey Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
